It's a lovely morning here - mild, damp and sunny! And yesterday when I went out I had to take off my gloves, scarf etc - I was too warm! I still have the heating on but it is turned right down. It feels like Spring - but I'm sure we haven't seen the last of the winter weather, usually we get the worst in February so I'm not going to put away my thermals yet!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

As we've actually had above zero temperatures I left my heating/boiler on last night (temporary fix of removing the condensating pipe fromthe bottom of the boiler & letting it drain into a bucket instead meant I had to switch it off overnight as its in my bedroom) and woke up to a hot bedroom :rotfl: It wasn't as pleasant as I thought it would be.
However looking at the weather forecast I'll be temporarily disconnecting it again in a few days as the temperature is set to hit 0 Saturday night and I'm not risking it "breaking" againRoll on the spring.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to the person who recommended insulating windows with bubble wrap (sorry I can't find the original post).
I done my bedroom and living room windows last week and it made the world of difference0 -

When the weather gets warmer, you'll probably want to remove this to improve ventilation, but remove it carefully, label the pieces used for differentwindows and roll up so that you can re-use next year if necessary., as it will already have been cut to size.0 -
Would bubble wrap work on the large frosted glass pane I have on my front door? I seem to lose a lot of heat through this?CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. I did this on mine and it worked a treat - piece of bubblewrap fixed with clear duck tape
I have have a small glass pane in the front door in the living room and a larger glass window above the door. covered both in bubblewrap and the door in a thick door curtain and it has made all the difference
I'll be taking it down in the spring to restain the door then put it back on in Sept ready to go again for winterfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -

i have bubblewrap in my frosted bathroom window and on the inside door at the top of my stairs. all you need to do is wipe it with a damp sponge then apply, bubble side to the window just pressing lightly and the surface tension of the water will hold it in place.
i only had to dampen mine once last year on the door because the wee curtain on it kept brushing against the edge of the wrap so it worked it loose.
i too kept mine from last year to use again and i don't know why i didn't think of this before now but the though occured to me that i could bubblewrap BOTH sides of the door at the stairs for even more insulation as we are the only people to see it and the only weather is sees is if i open the window at the top of the stairs...0 -
OH NO! IT'S SNOWING AGAIN :eek::eek:
hope everyone is well stocked, and i really hope this isn't the next round just yet, i'm desperate to get rid of my ex and he doesn't leave for a few days yet :rotfl:0 -
I'm so glad i decided to do a mad dash to Tesco this morning when there was only a few flakes in the air. As the day has gone on the snow is coming down a bit more and I presume mass panic buying of bread and milk will be going on.
I'm ok I have chocolate, pizza and some xmas alcohol left to see me through!0
