Aw thanks Frugal, have sent her a link to this in case she's lurking lol! Although unlike me she prefers to not to spend the entire day on the internet. I was at my Auntie's for Christmas Day and realised when I got home an hour ago that I'd really missed you guys and MSE! :rotfl:

We are having a thaw today but still a good foot of snow lying on the ground from before. For the first time in ages it's above freezing point and it feels balmy at 3C! I heard the northwest of Ireland is in for more snow tonight though so you will probably get some of that! Looks like you will be snowed in the RV for a while longer!

The thaw is not nice - my gutters are all dripping and I think all the wet is going to freeze tonight so footpaths and roads will be horrid.

Have faith sisters! I'm sure that the level of the snow here has fallen when I looked out this morning and there are definitely patches of grey to be seen on some roofs. OK, so it mighn't be a thaw but it's progress... (More snow forecast tonight:() Thinking last night that this thread will be so helpful for next year as we've been able to learn so much from this unimaginably long cold spell! Always look on the bright side:D
I hope that everyone's ok, especially Thrift Kitten and others who were worrying about making journeys. Let's hope that you are home safely now.

It's been raining here since last night, so we have no more snow. Hurrah!!!!
  • Definitely thawing in Dorset....I can see a little bit of grass! We might manage to get 90 year old M-i-L out for the first time in 9 days if this continues. The air ambulance has just landed in the fields above us behind the wood. Fingers crossed that all is OK.

  • Hello everyone :)

It's warmer here today, 2.7 c to be exact. :D

We still have remnants of snow in our garden and the parking area in the Close is still like an ice rink.

I'm thinking of cooking up some steak and kidney and making a pie, with some onions, peas and chopped up carrots and mushrooms, chucked in.:)

I was up at 4am with a runny nose and went back to bed after an hour down here in the front room. Feeling quite tired now.:o

    Have a lovely day.:)

I went out this morning and actually didn't need my hat for the first time in WEEKS :D The thaw has definitely started here as we have rain, although its like an ice rink on the pavements, I nearly went over 3 times before I'd even passed 4 neighbours houses so I gave up and walked on the road instead ;) Only 4 vehicles passed me in the 5 minute walk to Asda - 3 of those were private hire taxis!

Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
