Oh we've done that Sylvan, got stuck in a line of cars, picked up by the snowplough and taken to a farmhouse. Car sat there for a week - and the boot was full of COAL :( we were sat 15 miles away at home with none :(
My worry when working (nights) was that they would close the snow gates during the night - there's two sets of gates on my way home - and I always wondered what to do if they were shut. OH kindly suggested going back to work and doing an extra shift... :)

Snowgates? Do they literally close the roads then? OMG What on earth would you do?

    I haven't heard of snowgates :o

aww bless you poor thing! well one thing i can suggest that helped me was only sitting on a warm (not hot) rice sock, or you can use a wheat bag or possibly a partially filled hot water bottle (be careful with that one) the heat helped me so much when it was really bad

also sleeping with a pillow between my knees which i still have to do but i may be preaching to the choir here.

best advice i can give, do NOT go out when it's icy unless you have to and if you haven't already start getting your groceries delivered... i know asda specifically are supposed to take them straight into your kitchen if you ask them too ;)

best of luck and i hope it goes away once the baby is born, that would make a nice bonus to the christmas baby :p

It might be worth asking your GP about surgery to have your pelvis wired together. I don't think it's terribly well known. Mine only knew about it because one of his other patients had had it done.

EDIT: Just realised you're still pregnant. (((()))). Hope it gets better afterwards.
Have they given you a corset yet? If not ask for one.

I also begged for an epidural when I was having DS5 - it made all the difference (Didn't have any pain relief for the first four - hadn't needed it for 1-3 and just screamed a lot with #4:o. They hadn't bothered to tell me till afterwards that spd makes giving birth much more painful:mad:). Wonderful things, epidurals:D

Thank you both, I guess I am lucky in that it my pelvis hasn't completely seperated so can't go the wiring route, and they don't advise operating on the spine now if it can be avoided - or thats what they said last time. I think my Obs consultant was fab, as he says mine is so bad that he goes for an elective cs between 35-37 weeks, had my last ds at 35 weeks - He def agrees that when SPD is bad the worst thing possible is a full term natural birth. My main job is to keep the weight off my pelvis as much as possible :(

I love this thread as am desperately trying to get ready for winter, as am anticipating being housebound for most of it. My dh is hopeless at shopping alone, lol...
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

Thats what they offer at my dh's work as well. I worry extra as except for the overall manager in charge, he is the last person to leave the factory if they close due to bad weather. Dh is responsible for shutting down all the boiler systems, and ensuing all robots are off, etc.... Its normally during their nightshift that they may decide to shut down so that staff are not trapped. He can stay onsite and do maintence, but I much rather him at home with us all...

Has anyone bought thermal leggings/tops from asda? Recommend them? What's the fit like? The only sizes in stock are two sizes too big for me but they're half the price of any others I can find.
Just spoke to the neighbours and they've already got their heating on and they're electric bill has £600 for the winter quarter last year!! They had single glazing and ancient plug in electric heaters. Good news is, they say our storage heaters are only two years old, despite looking twenty so maybe they're more energy efficient than I thought.

I don't know if you have an Aldis near but they have thermals in from today. I have also found that the mens thermals in PRimark were quite good as well.

:rotfl:On one of the hottest days last summer someone uncovered the "Road closed due to snow" sign beside one of ours.

Internet shopping works much better than giving your DH a list and delivery drivers can be really kind when they realise you can't move around much. Some of mine offered to put stuff in the fridge and freezer for me.

I find Asda really helpful, and Tesco too, and get my bulky stuff delivered, plus extras - the drivers esp Asda are fantastic.

My main prob is that dd has lots of multiple allergies, so i normally go to lots of different stores over a month or so. Dh would rather just get everything from one... So my plan is to bulk buy everything I can to last for a few monthes at least.

Its like her mash is Morrisons, cereal bars - Sainsburys, Pure Marge - varies for best prices, mini Rice milks - Waitrose.... etc Shes allergisc to dairy, egg, soya, some colourings and limited sugars.

I also like my local market F&v stall, as its so much cheaper buying sacks of seasonal veges and then you can store/clean them at home.

Mind you men do eventually learn to shop, if you give them detailed lists.
My DH even managed to learn to cook eventually (at first the teenagers used to say "Who cooked it?" and if the answer was him they'd decide they weren't hungry:rotfl:)

    I've been Money Tipped!
Do we have any members on here from the Grange over Sands area (Castle Head)?

My 11 year old is going up there on a 3 day Eco course tomorrow and I was wondering what the weather is like there at the min.

I know I can find the details from metcheck etc but I would sooner hear it from the horses mouth.

    :D
