    Another question.

I am collecting free bubblewrap from MrT (fruit and veg sections) and wondered if this would be enough to lag plastic pipes outside? I have some running to my WM in the outhouse and altho most of it has the purpose made grey foam style ones, there are some awkward bits that I can't fit that stuff to IYSWIM.

Frugal, I think you can buy very small pots of yacht varnish, almost the size of tester pots, might be worth checking out. :)
Thanks re the house, but it has it`s drawbacks..very isolated! The land to the left of it in the pic is the actual croft, will be digging some of it over this winter for next years root veg :)

Is it just me or does anyone else get really excited about the thought of nights drawing in, its dark outside and you cuddle up on the couch with a blanket and hot choccie with a nice book/mag, with only a lamp as your friend and only light or evening strolls outside but your wrapped up so warm you can't feel the cold, only the wind....aaaahhh, pure bliss, can't wait!:D

I love the nights drawing in..gets dark around half seven here now, and it`s lovely to light the fire and paraffin lamps and sit with a mug of something hot and my feet up. :) I actually hate it during summer when there`s practically no darkness at nighttime. Reminds self to buy or make blackout curtains!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Hello everyone. :hello:

I haven't posted on the winter thread in ages, as a mix of personal and family problems have meant my winter preparations have had to go on the back burner for quite a while. I'm getting organised again now, though, so can I come back on the thread, please?

I've put together a list of stuff I need to stock up on, based on suggestions made on the previous version of this thread - much better than my usual scrabble around to work out what I might need, then finding out I've run out of something crucial when the weather's too bad to go and get it. I've started adding one or two items to my shopping basket each week, so it's not too much of a shock to the bank balance.

Today I went to Asda to buy some of their cheapy fleeces to act as 'curtains' for the patio doors in my living room (another bright idea from someone on this thread - :T to whoever came up with that idea), and found they were on special offer, two for £3. :j

Next on my list are thermal socks and a new fluffy jumper - I'm particularly looking forward to the second one as I have a great fondness for fluffy jumpers - I haven't needed to buy one for the past couple of years :(, but now I need one and have a decent excuse to treat myself. :D

Red Doe - thanks for posting that picture of your house. I can guess at some of the downsides of living somewhere like that, but it's so beautiful I think I could be tempted. ;)
Back after a very long break!
