The other option to connecting on the US east coast would be to fly out of the Germany. Condor, the German low cost carrier, fly Frankfurt to San Juan a couple of days a week.

Random dates in January are pricing up at about 500€ pp for economy and 700€ pp for premium economy. Add in your LON-FRA short flight and the pricing might be favourable.

Thanks for taking time to reply getmoreforless. I'm on lots of cruise agents emailing lists even US sites (not booked via US yet but tempted) but was just wondering if there's a forum somewhere.
