Cruise-only prices from £299 on Costa site, about 10% cheaper at agents. Sole supplement is about 30%. I've already booked - who's going to join me?
Compulsory tips are another 78€ but what the heck, I have fancied visiting Yalta & Odessa for a long time.

    Hi All,

I wonder if you could help me .... I'm looking for a 7 or 10 night meditteranean cruise in August this year for 3 people. I am a single parent with 2 children aged 9 & 7.

I have no experience of this sort of holiday and don't really know where to start looking - I'm not sure what sort of budget is reasonable? I'm not really bothered whether we have an inside or an outside cabin. I have tried looking on cruise .co.uk and get completely lost.

    Can anyone help please.

    Thank-you in advance.

You're not alone. I find it a very frustrating site.

I've never had to look for a cruise taking kids into account but I know there are sometimes specials like "kids go free" etc.

The sites I use most for looking (apart from the cruise lines' own sites) are
    www.cruisenation.co.uk
    www.cruise1st.co.uk
    www.cruiseclub.co.uk
the thomas cook website cruise section is usually quite competitive too
there's also the www.cruisecritic.co.uk website where there are forums like here but dedicated to just cruising.

Most important......the cruise line and their overall family friendliness. Yes.....NCL, Royal Caribbean........no Cunard, P&O.

Next.....boat. New boats more facilities and bigger, old boats fewer bells and whistles.

Try NCL Epic IMHO.....sails every week from Barcelona. Got all sorts of stuff that kids will love on board, and some great interesting ports to visit that even kids that age will appreciate e.g. Pompeii, Rome.

Yes the Norwegian Epic would be a good choice. There is a very good kids club from what we saw as it was well attended.

There are also water flumes, a rock climbing wall and bowling alley.

Prices from £729 for a balcony cabin on 19 August which is actually cheaper than an inside cabin. Flights extra, but plenty low cost options for Barcelona.

I disagree with this. I have been on 5 P&O cruises and they are very family orientated.

The kids clubs are absolutely fantastic and my 6 yr old DS has the best holiday ever.

Ventura, Azura and Oceana are the ships that I have sailed on, and I would recommend them all.

My advise would be to look for the cheapest deal from a Med Port avoiding Southampton departure as there are too many sea days and the weather can be rough (Bay of Biscay).
I would also suggest you choose a Royal Caribbean ship and agree that you would be best to avoid P&O, Princess and Cunard.

RCCL are the best for a family group especially with kids.
