Hi there,
I guess this is a silly question but please can anyone tell me if they know of any other way to get Sky Sports other than signing up for Sky or BT? Or even if the BT deal is a better deal than Sky? (It's just that i am loathe to sign up for Sky as i dont like them and dont have any wish to watch their other channels)
All answers appreciated!!

You can get Sky Sports thru' terrestrial digital via top up TV; upside is only monthly contract, downside is................its b******dy expensive!!!0

Or you could get friendly with someone who has the whole Sky sports package and go visit him/her when you want to see a match:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

There are at present 4 choices for receiving Sky Sports (ignoring IPTV and other internet methods) - these are Virgin, Sky, TopUpTV and BT Vision - the last two require good Freeview reception and Virgin obviously depends on you being in a cabled area
TopUpTV and BT Vision only have Sky Sports 1 and 2 and SD only
Virgin have all 5 channels but Sky Sports 3 and 4 are not available in HD (not sure about Sky Sports News HD.)
Sky have all 5 channels in SD and HD.
Sky is the best value for money according to What Satellite - see here

It really depends on your location, whether you can receive Freeview or Virgin cable, which of the channels you want to watch and whether you want HD or SD, what extras you want or could give you savings (broadband and telephone) on what package you go for - there is no best choice for all.0 -
i am sure you can just sign up to sky sports without any entertainment pack or mixes. it is advertised on the sky website.
"Sky TV customers can take Sky Sports without any Entertainment Packs.
Starting from £29.
To order, call 0844 822 2035"0 -

I thought there was only one way to get all the sky sports channels, and thats thru sky. All other deals do not cover all the sky sports channels do they?YNWA

You can take out Sports with out the entertainment packs but you do have to subscibe to the basic sky programmes.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

i agree but if its the cheapest option then its a no brainer.0 -
WOW!! :j
Hello all and thank you for the brilliant response!!
Nope im afraid i cant get Virgin where i live but do currently have freeview! The only two negatives, for me, with Sky are:
1, me and my gf live in a rented house and im not sure whether the owner would like a Sky dish on her neat roof/walls (i will ask though)
2, I hate contracts!!
I want the sports channels for the great boxing coverage and i believe Sky Sports 1 and 2 are the best for that but i'll have to check!
I must say this Top-up TV is new to me but that dreaded word 'expensive' makes me shiver!!!!
Perhaps i should find out if the owner would mind a dish but then there is also the problem of a lengthy contract if my gf and I were to move out!
