Did you actually read my post before replying, the car has had a full alignment check, not just "tracking", and was found to be spot on, the car had it's camber, castor, toe and all other manner of stuff checked, with a fully documented before and after, outside edge wear on a car with PAS isn't always an alignment issue, especially when it is a small car with a relatively heavy engine.

Very true. It's often a result of hard cornering. I remember a while back that a police force complained to Jaguar that their XJ6's were prematurely wearing out the outside edge of the nearside front tyre. A friend of mine was tasked with looking into it and he discovered that the police drivers negotiated right hand bends and roundabouts etc. a lot faster than left hand bends. Something to do with the psychological effect of the driver feeling safer if the car is leaning away from him.
Irony, what's that? Some folks get sarcasm tho'??

Can you explain the difference, apart from being the lowest form of wit??

But the highest form of intelligence.
Oh, and Falkens are the most recent ditchfinders I've had the misfortune to have experienced, they last forever but you pray they wont.

Funny. I've heard nothing but praise for them. It may depend on which Falkens and what they are fitted to though.

Can't remember the model, 512's possibly, but were fitted to a sports jobby and lasted so long that they hardened with age and started skating and had to be dumped with still about 4mm tread left:mad:. First time I've had to do that:money:,not

The Eurowinter HS439 are supposed to be very good as far as "budget" winter tyre's go.... At least according to the reviews i've read about the web.
Thinking of buying a set for this coming winter, a darn site less expensive and more effective that doing what all the dumb schmucks are doing (buying 4x4's).

how do you know what the speed rating is? i have just spoken to a local tyre fitter, he has a debica in, but i said i didnt want that after reading on here, he said that it was a good tyre. he then said that he can get a kumho in for this afternoon, its $40 fitted. he reckons its better than the ceat. as if i would know!!

After the tyre size eg. 205/55/16 there should be a letter and a possibly another number stating the Load value of the tyre...so it will read for example 205/55/16 91W.

Speed ratings on modern tyres usually range from H, W, Y, Z and indicate the max speed for the tyre at full load. H being the lowest....

Arguably speed ratings wouldn't make much difference to the normal everyday driver as the tyre is speed rated by being driven on a track of a maximum speed (eg. 130mph), maximum load (full car) for a certain time (i think its about 30 minutes, might be more) at this high speed....however it can invalidate your insurance if you have different speed ratings on the 4 tyres or even if the speed rating is lower then the car manufactures recommendation.

Yes, just checked, the one's I had were ZE 512's, very popular about 10 years back but on the lightweight car I ran then you couldn't wear the dam things out, at 5 years old they were lethal. They where fitted as standard on many similar cars from new and others had the same issue, then Toyo's became available:j:j
