 Slanderous comments!!!
When I went for a new tyre they very kindly pointed out that my shock absorbers were leaking, my brakes were lethal, my two rear tyre's needed replacing and my exhaust was rotten!!
They advised me not to drive the car until it was fixed!
I'd be driving around in a death trap right now, if not for them!
I only went in for a £60 tyre, but luckily they fixed it all for just £950!!
I'll now go recommend them to all my friends, so they can come onto global internet forums and recommend them to other nitwits. “I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.” “I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

My wife had Continentals on the front of her Clio, think they are Contact 2's or something like that, they have worn badly, especially on the shoulders, which the old ones didn't, they have only done 10k and there is only 2 mm till the wear markers in the centre of the tread.
The alignment has been checked and it is spot on, having had the full works done, not just "tracking".
I shouldn't be too upset as they were free, she had an accident when a car hit the side of her when driving along, and the garage fitted to brand new tyres as they had been damaged during the collision, so I had them put on the front and bought two matching for the rear.
I thnk I will be in the market for a set of Michelins some time soon. Might even get her a set of winter tyres to see her through the cold and wet weather.
Sounds like the car hasn't been repaired properly. Most body repairers use optical gauges for wheel alignment because they are cheap - as low as £20 for a set.
I would be inclined to take the car to a place with proper 4 wheel laser alignment and if possible a place fitted with a Heka test plate. The man without a signature.0

Another thing to bear in mind is matching up the speed rating on the Tyre. It can invalidate your insurance if you have a mix of different speed ratings.
Also I use etyres.co.uk - They have free mobile tyre fitting included, I had my tyres fitted while I was at work and they were alot cheaper then Kwick Fit. 0 0

how do you know what the speed rating is? i have just spoken to a local tyre fitter, he has a debica in, but i said i didnt want that after reading on here, he said that it was a good tyre. he then said that he can get a kumho in for this afternoon, its $40 fitted. he reckons its better than the ceat. as if i would know!!0

Never listen to tyre fitters when they recommend tyre's, they like to recommend the things they make most profit on and surprisingly premium brands don't make much profit.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Very true, a local independent "swears by" some Far-Eastern ditchfinder, he has loads of POS dotted around his waiting room where they've been compared to "x" and won in a shoot-out.Strider590 wrote: »Never listen to tyre fitters when they recommend tyre's, they like to recommend the things they make most profit on and surprisingly premium brands don't make much profit.
I've driven a car with them on, I entirely disagree!
That said, some "cheap" brands aren't bad tyres at all. I use Falkens now, absolutely brilliant tyres for a reasonable price.

Irony, what's that? Some folks get sarcasm tho'??
Can you explain the difference, apart from being the lowest form of wit??
Oh, and Falkens are the most recent ditchfinders I've had the misfortune to have experienced, they last forever but you pray they wont.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Did you actually read my post before replying, the car has had a full alignment check, not just "tracking", and was found to be spot on, the car had it's camber, castor, toe and all other manner of stuff checked, with a fully documented before and after, outside edge wear on a car with PAS isn't always an alignment issue, especially when it is a small car with a relatively heavy engine.
The tyres aren't feathered, there is no signs of unusual or uneven wear, just the fact that they are wearing a bit on the outside edge, I have seen this pattern of wear on some Prius used around London, and I think it is more to do with the tyre tread pattern and if the car performs lots of U turns and low speed nipping around.
Though you are correct in that the alignement was out after repair, the place I always have my alignment done is Elite in Rainham, they are the only place that I will let do my alignment, they are one of the few places that can do Prodrive geaometry on a WRX and stop Omegas from wearing thier tyres on the inside edge.0
