so why do tesco print 1p sel.and further more an employee has to place that 1p sel on the shelf.so if there not supposed to sell 1p items why is a 1p sel on the pricing list.
I believe it may be a legal requirement to print the label, BUT staff are instructed/trained NOT to put it on display. Instead, the item affected should be taken off the shelf and disposed of.
The reason for the list is two-fold: 1. To be given to the relevant departmental manager to action; 2. For stores to maintain an audit trail to prove due diligence.
It's all bullocks and an incredible waste of time, given the amount of bureaucracy handed down from the !!!!!! in Welwyn Garden City, most of whom couldn't find their way out of a Bag for Life with a map.In the words of the great philosopher Jagger, "You can't always get what you want."0 -
I personally think it works like this..
Some Tesco will sell u the product at 1p so that they do not have to pay to get rid of the rubbish...cos its very expensive to pay someone to get rid of the waste.
and some Tescos either want the stuff themselves for the staff or want to pay someone to get rid of the waste and be out of pocket...
I think it just depends on the store manager..
In some Tescos the staff happily sell u the 1p item whereas some take it off u due to " health and safety" I was told!!
There are some Store Managers who would leave it to be sold, yeah, but if their Area Manager comes in and sees it happening, they'd have the SMs guts for garters - although there are some AMs who really couldn't give a monkeys either (money's money at the end of the day - look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves).
Health & safety my a*se! Unless it's being pulled of the shelf as a result of a product recall issue. In the words of the great philosopher Jagger, "You can't always get what you want."0 -
Nearly didn't go down the seasonal aisle last night. Glad I changed my mind - nice little lp haul included cadbury's tree decorations, one Mr. Men advent calendar, 2 thomas tank advent calanders and best of all Thortons father chrismas. Also got national trust christmas pudding for 50p. These all just looked like they had been dumped on the shelf. Thank you Mr. T - I would still like some points coupons with my mailing though.
Call Clubcard helpline (0800 59 16 88) and ask them to check that you're set up on their archaic system to receive coupons.

And besides, HQ really aren't that clever - trust me! The words "p*ss up" and "brewery" spring to mind.
Used to be sceptical that they monitored the misprices but realised they now monitor ANY mention of Tescos on Twitter - even people just moaning about a Tesco sandwich - and reply to it, so they have clearly invested some time/money into tracking this stuff.0 -
