Can I be really blonde and ask some advice

Saw some castrol gtx engine oil in T's today reduced from )12.99 to £3
The 30/10 type was full price and the 45/15 was the reduced one

Pls could anyone explain the difference and which would be suitable for a vw

What model and year VW though? and is it diesel or petrol? The handbook should state what viscosity to use. Older high mileage engines that burn oil won't mind a drop of something thicker than what they should have in them.

In that case, it'll more than likely be the 30/10 that you want. The numbers refer to the viscosity of the oil. Older vehicles need more viscous oils that newer ones.

If you tell me what model it is and whether it's petrol or diesel I'll have a quick look on the internet for you. I'm sitting here bored with nothing to do so I might as well make myself useful.

If it was my car I'd chuck it in anyway. My old Rover 216GTi had every grade of oil going chucked in it, including tractor oil and it never battered an eye lid.
