Just had a bad experience at Watford Extra, until this morning id never tried looking for the 1p stuff but saw this thread yesterday so gave it a go..

I found the 1p boxes of Roses, went to self checkout, scanned them, was half way through paying then heard someone shouting at the top of there voice "STOP STOP STOP YOU CANT DO THAT" I turn around and there's a manager and a security guard coming over to me (half the store was staring at me) and im totally bewildered as to what the hells going on. This so called manager then went on to tell me that they cant sell items for 1p. I respond by saying why are they on the shelf then, he wouldn't answer..

Anyway he cancels the transaction. By this point im fuming not because he cancelled the sale but because of the way he spoke to me and embarrassed me infront of everyone leaving and coming into the store..

Could someone point me in the right direction of making a formal complaint.. I was made to feel like I was a shoplifter. dread to think of what other shoppers thought...

I would definitely be complaining - longly and loudly. What a cheek, customer service experience at its worst, and by a manager too ...

Telephone 0800 505555, 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday or email at customer.services@tesco.co.uk

If you feel you have got an unsatisfactory reply, please email again, and sending a copy of your correspondence to the CEO, Philip Clarke, you will certainly get a satisfactory response from his office: Tesco House, Delamare Road, Cheshunt, Herts, EN89SL

    Good luck.

''Stop stop stop you can't do that'' What go into a supermarket and legitimately purchase something which has been offered for sale ? Its a shame that you didn't just ignore them and carry on paying. If you'd succesfully paid and had your receipt the goods would've been yours

That's absolutely shocking - I really feel for you as you must have been mortified. What a ridiculous way for a manager to behave. Keep us informed of how your complaint goes.

OMG! What awful behaviour from the store manager. That is truly shocking, and the manager should certainly be reported for his attitude towards you. As far as he is aware, you could have simply been buying end of term pressies for school teachers (or something like that) and been totally unaware of the glitch. It really makes me cross that people think that they can talk to others like this. I would have been shocked and upset too, and would most definitely report this person.

I was lucky to discover a full tray (9 boxes) of Roses in my local T's (Was just an empty tray last time I looked a few days ago, so worth the efoort of checking regularly). Took 5 for me and gave my mum 4 to put through the ss checkout with the rest of her shopping. Ours went through fine, but I would have been absolutely livid if anyone had spoken to my mum in that manner.
