  • Didn't know about this - am new to all this, when I went the other night (to get my mini wine deals!)got some plastic document wallets that were reduced to 55p and 1 came up as 95p so self checkout lady changed back to 55p :(

Also while I'm on, can someone please tell me what SEL is?
    Thanks

To get Double the difference (DTD) you have to have paid for the item at the till, then you can go to customer services to query it. They will go check the SEL if the price was on there & if your right you should get double the difference back. Make sure they dont try to fob u off with a refund for just the difference. DTD is their policy so they have to honour it.

Anyone got any ideas of how to check the prices first?

check everywhere around the store for a price checker. i didn't know my local had one until a couple of weeks ago (and i have been shopping there for over a year!). it's in the clothes section, hidden in between all the clothes!

failing that, you could go to the pharmacy counter and ask them there.

    :)

Not in Watford. There has been a sign at CS for almost 2 weeks now stating that you will now only get your money back on an overcharge. DTD is definitely no longer in Watford.

quite a few easter related items in store today with no SEL so I loaded my basket with one of each and went over to the price checker, most items (cupcakes, easter biscuit kits etc) were full price but the disney mini eggs were 1p so I emptied the shelf of 13 packs :)

I found more than that, hehe, my dd (4 years) asked me why we were getting so many, I told her for party bags ! She now thinks she will be having about 30 children to a party, lol.

    Not bad for a penny.

Asked 3 different sales assistants yesterday, one started having a real moan about them! he suggested going to clothing so I did, she said they haven't had one for ages!

Another guy said they might put them back in if the shop is refitted! He said there was a suggestion box on CS too.

Just checked on line, the Tratatoria Verdi pasta sauce is 20p on there, but none in my local shop! Don't want to pay a delivery charge though, so will keep looking in store.

I am working in another part of the city next week, so will check out the Mr T there.

I think I'm quite lucky as my store has 2 scanners - 1 in a kinda health/sports aisle and another amongst the clothes. For some reason though if the item is reduced in some way the 1 in the clothing section just comes up saying to contact a member of staff for assistance whereas the other 1 gives you a price - very odd

I got my 1st 1p items last night - caperberries and rum sauce - I've looked for ages for all the penny items and never found anything so was dead chuffed :j

Thanks to everyone on here who has contributed items and ideas - its great fun hunting these out :T

  • Do you think Asda & Morrisons also have 1p finds?
