hello

Hope someone can help. Our Kids have bt vision, hub and broadband upstairs and my OH would really love to have skysports downstairs where we currently only have a freeview box. Is it possible to transmit from upstairs so that I can make all of his dreams come true?

there must be a way

(We have a good bt deal so don't want to change providers)

TIA

Move the Vision set up downstairs and let the kids have Freeview?
Never had TV in the bedroom when I was a lad, etc etc...
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • My sentiments exactly macman but OH is a softie #rolls eyes#

look at a wireless video sender for bt vision boxes. price is around £30.

or why not get the kids a freeview box, and put the vision box downstairs?

p.s , what deal did you get with bt please? what does it include and costs.
  • Thanks Alan

Would that just be one piece of equipment on one tv and one on another (like a sender and receiver?)

how would we then tune into the channels downstairs would we need anotrher remote...we don't have to watch the same thing do we??:o

The deal we have is a staff deal ;)

    thanks again

What you are wanting is effectively the BT Vision version of Sky's Multiroom. I've no idea if that is technically possible, and if it was there would doubtless be an extra charge. I would assume that the bandwidth reserved on your BB connection for the on-demand content is only sufficient to get one channel at a time?
A quick look on the BT website gives no clues whatsoever... but that's normally the case with BT...

yes a sender and a receiver, you will have to watch the same thing unfortunately. consider getting the kids a freeview box with built in recorder??? ideal for them. then your husband can watch sports downstairs.

heres a link from digital spy regarding 2 bt vision boxes. a second box can be bought off ebay cheap enough. ive only looked briefly but it looks as if it can cause recording problems? so may not be worth persuing??

Yes it doesn't really seem to be geared up for two boxes which is a shame because they go for about a tenner on ebay. Most digital spy threads/articles I have read say strictly one V box per broadband connection -The teccy stuff scares me TBH -:) How much is freeview with a recorder?

Oh...and I don't think we could possibly share channels with 3 teenage girls, we'd go insane overnight.....

Thanks for your input so far Allan and Macman. It's our anniversary thi smonth and this is something I really want to sort out once and for all so its greatly appreciated. :D

You could get your Sky Sports on the Freeview TV via Top-Up TV...at a price.
Freeview PVR (Humax 9300T) is £160.

good shout by macman, espn seems the cheapest option.
    look at espn uk.
  • Argos seem to do a freeview recorder for £70. What is ESPN cheaper for? (sorry to use the girl card but I AM a girl) :o.
