How do you think all these families will pay their rent when the government reduces their benefits to max 500wk?0 -

What will happen when the housing benefit cuts come in? Many shocked landlords in London who can not pay their mortgage because they can not find anyone who will pay that much rent.0

In 99% of areas, the effect will be tiny, and cannot possibly overcome upwards pressure like this....Frustrated buyers are continuing to push up the price of renting a property in the UK, according to a survey.
The average cost rose for the ninth consecutive month to £691 a month in October, according to LSL Property Services.
The price is rising as potential first-time buyers struggle to get a mortgage and so continue to rent.
A separate survey from Spareroom.co.uk suggested that seven people were chasing every room for rent.
The house sharing website said this was the highest level of demand since it launched six years ago.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

99% of areas may have a tiny effect.
But we are talking about London, either rents will fall or many will move away from there. Which would mean less demand and more supply which in the end will mean lower rents.0 -

I'm not disputing that rents are cheaper just outside London and it is possible to get housing under the new limits, I'm just saying there are not large numbers available.0
