I've had a very productive day! Made all but one of phone calls i needed to, blitzed downstairs, done all washing and just about to iron it! Made pasta and pizza sauce and banana muffins with some very ripe bananas. Sorted out 2 doors and one cupboard and made a start on sorting through my craft stuff to see what i've got. Getting inspired!! Tomorrow run a playgroup in the morning so that rules out anything in morning but afternoon i'm going to carry on with craft stuff and putting all bits i've ripped out from mags! Going to meal plan before i go to bed......... oh rubbish thats the same bed i stripped but haven't made! Guess what i'm off to do!

    even feather ones?

I noticed the cover on feather pillows was a sort of tea stained brown (from not washing pillowcases often enough i presume). Any suggestions how i can clean them up if wm not an option please?

I have two cases on our pillows - an under one which is a cheap white cotton one (quite thick) and then the top one. The brown is more likely to be years of sweat etc. Washing them in the machine would be ok but it can over weight the drum - they are mighty heavy when wet. I take things like feather quilts to the launderette and put them in their huge machines costs me about £5 but no risk to my machine :D

  • Well despite starting after eastenders (sorry needed a fix:rotfl:) I'm quite pleased with myself.

Monday ~ Living Room, Hall and Stairs

    [/STRIKE]
    Level 2
    [STRIKE]Dusting, even if around everything
Vacuum under furniture you can manage to move without hurting yourself

    Level 3
    [STRIKE]Clear fire surround of gibble!

[STRIKE]Put a hotspots into a pile/box and sort through it all while having a cuppa. [/STRIKE] - done 1 hotspot, more to do, maybe next week
Tidy shoes, coats and bags .. wash any that need washing. See if there are any that don't fit, past their best or just plain uncomfy which could leave the house! Who needs new coats/boots for winter? Have to do Saturday when I can get family together to do in one hit

    Extras
    1. Paperwork clearance.. spend 15 minutes minimum sorting through those piles of paper. too much paperwork sorted at school today, didn't get home till 6.20pm so I'll give this a miss
    2. [STRIKE] Make sure lightbulbs are working and smoke alarms!!!!
    3. [/STRIKE]Clean a window or two.
    4. Defluff behind radiators.. has anyone tried those heat reflective things for behind radiators? Are they good for energy saving?
    also DW x2
    WM x3
    TD x2

Well after baking sausagemeat pie, quiches for dinner finally started list at 8.30 (eat dinner whilst decluttering tv). Off now to do 2 x HHS (that's half hour schoolwork for those non teachers:))

Morning all what do you use to defluff behind radiators cant recall ever doing it and the heat reflector things anyone got them are they good I might look at doing level 1 today Ive been full of cold since last thursday at work all day fri and sat so even the basics have been challenge so the radiators can wait just curious:)

Heat reflectors definitely work (I used to work in energy efficiency...). There are plenty of sites that tell you about them, but probably the best is the Yellow House website

Yes, they can go in the WM (at 60 to kill dust mites) - depending on their size I put in one (new ones) or two (old ones) at a time. Although you can dry on the line, you'll need to finish off in the TD with a couple of dryer balls or clean tennis balls to fluff them up and make sure they're thoroughly dry (put them on hot).

I do my pillows and my summer kingsize duvet regularly in my WM, but the heavier duvets go to the laundry. If you have a lot of pillows to do, Dusty's suggestion of the laundrette is a good idea. If you take all your duvets, pillows etc a couple of times a year it'll deal with the dustmites and they'll all be done in one go.

Oh, I have to START a nappy cake!!!!!
  • :jjust had a cabbage patch pow-wow. Outlined a few 'rules' that will take effect this week as everyone back at work or school so everyone needs to chip in with flying. Rotas drawn up for
kids (and mut) to strip their beds
    mut to be fed
    mut to be walked daily

introduced family to flylady task list and all are to do something off the list (mut dashes round room with duster tied to tail :rotfl:)

all agreed home has been much cleaner/tidier since I've had help from FCC (accompanied by :rotfl::rotfl:because I have to consult internet to clean the house) , so plan is to print off list each day.

decision spurred on by fact that DH arrived home from work about 7.30, eat his dinner I had slaved over for an hour, then parked himself in front of telly watching bemused as i rooted out 5 duvets stuffed behind sofa (its been holidays and kids migrate from bed in mornings to sofa and back to beds, with another set of duvets downstairs to minimise the effort they have to make!! my fault really I bought them new duvets Easter and have not taken old ones to dogs trust. I then proceeded to strip covers off all 5 for washing (he is still sat gazing at moving images on tv). when i expressed my thanks for his help ...... "I've been at work all day". So things are gonna change round here and I don't mean just the bedding:rotfl:
