pvr/recording for satelite and freeview?

hi,
i am looking at getting rid of sky and having a satelite system installed.

i will watch freeview with the built in tvs built in freeview, and use the satelite for football, films etc.

i need a recording facility as i am getting rid of sky plus.

i need to be able to record both freeview and satelite programmes onto something, can you recommend anything simple to use please?

what are my options.

cheers !

You'll need a separate PVR for both systems (Freesat and Freeview) if you want to record both.
Humax PVR 9300T for Freeview and Humax Foxsat HDR for Freesat.
Or wait for the imminent Humax Freeview HD box if you want Freeview HD.
No quite clear what films and football you are expecting to get on Freesat though? Since the channel line ups are quite similar, do you really need to record from both?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

what i think the op meant was he wanted to record football, films etc from the satellite feed

OP you posted it in 2 different areas, the 2 need to be merged

That's what's puzzling me, as I can't think what channels they might be that are not available on Freeview as well?
For example, any football that is not exclusive to Sky Sports is going to be on ITV1 or BBC1 on both Freeview and Freesat platforms. Similarly with films.
In that case best to buy a Foxsat for the Freesat recordings and a standard digibox for Freeview.

i dont want freesat, but a different satelite system from a european broadcaster.
and i need to be able to record from both sources.

what is puzzling? as i have never once mentioned freesat ! all i said was a satelite system.
"i am ditching sky and buying another satelite system, not freesat"

i need to be able to record from freeview digital tv, and also a new satelite system "not sky or freesat"

thanks for advice, tried to merge the thread or delete it but i cant?

    sorry for any confusion.

OK fair enough, so you could use a Foxsat HDR in non-Freesat mode to record the European broadcasts, and a 9300T for Freeview.

I have a dvd recorder with built in freeview and analogue tuners and have connect the scart from my skybox to that and record that and I can record from the analogue tuner no freeview in my area but I can’t see why you wouldn’t be able to record that.

Like others here who have offered advice, I am a bit puzzled as to exactly what you want. You say in your first post "i need to be able to record both freeview and satelite programmes onto something"

I have a non Freesat receiver and record via usb onto a Seagate Freeagent 320 GB external hard drive. It is silent, and at one hour per GB has enough capacity for my needs even when recording transmissions in HD.
