    Hi Whatajoke,

From what I am aware there are no contract renewals as part of the migrations.

however some customers have transferred outside of the automatic migration process, for example some customers moved from Tiscali to TT after Tiscali was acquired, but before this was rebranded. THese customers will have agreed a new contract term and this will be confirmed in writing.

As such there is more than one variation of customers who have changed from Tiscali to TalkTalk and there is difference in the advice that is applicable.

as such I cannot jsut make one statement here that is applicable to everyone, as this would be misadvising a portion of people, depending on circumstances.

For those customers who automatically migrated as part of the amalgamation of the two customer bases I am not aware contract renewals are supposed to take place. However as I have previously stated on occasion these have. These require individual investigations as in some cases customers have clearly agreed a new contract term and this si recorded, in others this is not so clear. As such there is not always one answer that is universally applicable.

    Regards

    Mark

  • Just wanted to report my recent success on this!
After being fobbed off by Talk Talk and 4 separate occasions, I brought this entire sorry mess to the attention of OTELO (OFCOM's investigation branch). Whilst this was being investigated, Talk Talk decided to instruct CARS debt recovery firm to take action against me.

I managed to negotiate with them to halt recovery action until OTELO had pronounced judgement (which they agreed to) and then I received a letter from OTELO telling me that they agreed with my complaint and were ordering Talk Talk to clear my account, write letter of apology and send me £40 compensation!

My thanks to MSE at this point, 2 years ago I would have paid the exit fee and sucked it up. I have now learned how to stand up to these corporations who seem to think they can do as they wish!! Many thanks guys!!!

Good result! But be sure to let us know when they pay up-getting money out of TT can be a slow and weary process.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
