Will O2 Shop Sync My Phones?
Hi All
I have an O2 Online contract but kept last year's Samsung D500 and sold the upgrade in March, which was a mistake! The D500 has intermittent faults and is getting tired so I've just bought an O2 PAYG Sony Ericsson K310i to replace it with (but bin the new sim and keep the contract).
I need to get my phonebook from the D500 to the K310i - would an O2 shop do this for me for free? Otherwise I'm going to have to buy a data cable for each as my bluetooth dongle is broken and the K310i doesn't have bluetooth anyway. I'd be happy to get a cable for the K310i as I ought to keep a backup for my contacs on the PC anyway, but it seems a waste to buy a cable for the retired D500!
Cheers,
Jamp

Are you contacts stored on the D500 or the SIM? If you can copy them onto the SIM, you should then be able to put the old SIM into your K310i and transfer them. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Or buy a data cable for the D500, and refund it within 14 days!!CPW Retail

You can put the contacts onto the sim card with the D500 if they aren't already, just move contacts to sim in the phonebook options. Then just put the sim into the new phone, and being a sony ericsson, it'll most likely ask to copy sim contacts to phone, as this is how they work.0

Unfortunately, you can't copy contacts from phone to sim on the D500. The only option is to copy from sim to phone and not vice versa! I wonder if this is because a sim can't store contacts with multiple numbers (home, mobile and office numbers under one contact).
Either way, my original question still applies. Think it's a bit cheeky to do the 'return within 14 days' thing really, would the shop not do it for me?0 -
Or can it be done via Infrared ports? Both phones have those.0

Oh, you could do it on my D500, but it was on Orange, and they have their own firmware on their phones, so must have been because of that.0

i have done it before and it is far easier to to it that way than change the sim cards while you copy them on to your new phone0 -

But don't you have to send each contact separately when using IR?

Spot on Espresso,
Buying and refunding isn't shameful, its 'Money Saving'!!

So is that a "no" to my original question? Can't really be bothered pratting about going to the shop twice to do the refund trick, might as well do it via IR even though it'll take ages.
