  • Dinner tonight is veggie haggis with pastry and veggies for DH and I, the boys are having sausage casserole as they won't eat the Haggis.

When you get a chance jackieg could you please share your veggie haggis recipe please? :D

Its the one from the grocery challnge, I'll go find it for you :)Here you are! It is very good, and comparable with McSweens, which IMO is the nicest one on the market. I also make it into pasties with grtaed potato and carrot and turnip in, which is just heavenly.

    Welcome Sarah.
Thanks for all the good wishes for hubby's b'day.
Yep Bitsy, it was something like that!
Twice in two days, pah, 3 times a day suits me just fine, lol.
Went to a family BBQ, managed to put my foot right in it, I was wandering around chatting to people, most of whom I don't know, one guy was familiar, so chatted to him & then to include the guy he was stood with I asked 'so how long have you 2 been a couple?' Ooops allegedly they aren't gay & aren't a couple, so a big booboo on my part. Still I may have encouraged them to come out sooner rather than later!
I then got collared by the navel gazing brigade, 3 of them all in their mid 40's all very intense, all wittering on about how a certain book had altered their perceptions & changed their lives. I was managing to keep a straight face til one of the said 'After reading this book, I may have to read another one' 'Another by the same author?' I enquired, knowing this particular author had only written one book, 'Oh no, this is the first book Iv'e ever read, I think I may read another one now'

I've also made a huge batch of chilli - using 1kg of mince and 6 cans of kidney beans, I must look at using dried beans in future but I'm a bit nervous about using kidney beans because of the toxins.

You have to boil the beans for ~10 minutes to start which gets rid of the toxins. A lot of beans have toxins in them and need soaking then rapid boiling, including before going in a slow cooker. I personally never soak my beans though, I always forget :o

The chicken casserole was a massive success, with fussy BF wolfing it down :j
Job hunting for him wasn't so successful though.

    Evening all,

Been watching the All Ireland hurling final this afternoon...exciting game and was happy that Tipperary won.

Need to go to a funeral to-morrow....the husband of deceased cousin died rather suddenly so need to pay my respects to the family, so no knitting to-morrow for me, but can't be helped, the service is on at same time as group meeting.

Dull here to-day and a little mist from time to time, no washing to do so not bothered....all next week is supposed to be wet, so I may be sorry I didn't search the house but life's too short etc..

    Happy birthday Mr Hester....

Dinner to-day is going to be mainly leftovers again, this time from breakfast, OH cooks as if all our children still lived here, so am just adding potatoes and beans from garden to make a full meal.

Pain has lessened in arm, slept better last night thanks Ruby. By the way saddle soap is good for leather...available where they sell 'horsy' stuff, is a bit of work to use though.

Need to prep room for visitors on Tuesday, should have been done yesterday but no arm power, won't take long to make it respectable....want to put on new duvet I got during summer.

JackieG....that's a difficult one to work out, you will have to take out the paper and pencil and start with the for and against columns and once you have decided on a course of action go with it determined to do all you need to make it work...simple, but in no way easy!

Hugs to all, welcome Sarah, you will soon learn the mad people to avoid on here!

    Falady....sleep well while you can!

    Evening!

Back from UK School Games - it was brilliant. For those who give school kids a hard time ... just watch them compete their heart and soul out at their sport. It was amazing to see them being wonderful.

Now, need my own bed, some wine and some piece and quiet - it's hard to imagine just how noisy 1700 athletes can be when in one space!!

    Tired but very happy.

Haven't caught up but will do that tomorrow. Hope that all is well?

    Evening all :D

Busy day....but i struggle to call sitting in Marksies cafe eating a toasted teacake hard work :D still that was the easy bit and I've been on the go since half six this morning and all my tendons are screaming 'you dozy b1tch what are you playing at??!!'

DD's first day at nursery tomorrow..... our baby is growing up all too fast - she could have started last year but DH wanted to hold on to her for a little while longer. Its one we have to pay for so she's going three days a week and I think she's ready for it. She's excited for it but bot sure how the reality of getting left by both of us will sit with her - she only just getting used to the odd occasion where mum and dad go to work together and she gets looked after! Anyway fingers crossed she (as well as me and her daddy!) will be fine :o

Time for more painkillers then bed for me - I'm bushed!

Hi all, Been MIA for ages but back and on track now. Take over as Manager in my new job tomorrow after all my training and handover so feeling excited! Bought lots of bits in Aldi today and just meal planning now for the week.

Hester, loved the bit about navel gazing. My friend was talking about a film today and he said he thought there'd be a lot of and then pulled his t shirt up to look at his stomach. This is our symbol for navel gazing which I feel there is far too much of going on nowadays in general. A bit of a whinge is normal but then you have to sort of get on with it, eh?

Jackie that's a difficult one and I know exactly what you mean. It's a long term commitment and only you can make the call. A friend of mine is thinking about it for her son. She is middle class and her and her man are a pair of academics but she was saying it's not just the fees it's the fact that her kid would then expect to have what all the really moneyed kids have i.e loads of sporty activities and clothes and foreign trips every five minutes and she just wouldn't be able to do that. Can you PM your mobile number again? Lost my phone when trolleyed and all my numbers with it.

Loving a bit of Alan Carr at the mo. Hugs to all who need them XXX
