I've been going for things with extra points from boots, I reckon I can keep me and my girls going for a few years. I redeem the points for perfume for the three of us at Xmas. Before I joined this site I only did it with food/ cleaning materials etc.
I used my tesco points (doubled up to get a new microwave and a spare toaster + Kettle ( I need standbys as I do B+B). I also got my daughter a high chair for her new baby. I've had a clubcard for years but never really knew how to use it properly until I joined this site, the same with my boots card. I don't pay full price for anything now.
Thanks to all of you!
Are you sure you aren't my mum?? :rotfl:0 -

I thought so.
My mum buys in bulk too, but she has a huge house to store it all in.0 -
Sign up for the newsletter at Home Bargains website, and they send out a weekly newsletter on offers they have, you can also check the star buys section.0

I do tend to a buy a few when they are on BOGOF. However I never tend to buy more than 6. Most of the items I buy BOGOF, shampoo, toothpaste etc... does tend to have offers every couple of months. I buy enough for about 3 months at a time and then the offer has usually come round again. It means I don't have to mega bulk buy.
Most brands tend to go the rounds with the supermarkets too. So one week Tesco, next Sainsbury, then Asda etc...0 -
My spare bedroom is full with toilet roll packs ( all BOGOF) and the garage has about 2 years supply of instant coffee, I years supply of tinned salmon & tuna. My liquid detergent I bought 3 years ago and have more than half left.
I buy anything that I will consume/use when they are on special offer or BOGOF.
I used to buy for four and it hasn't entirely sunk in that I am now on my own, so I have over 2 freezers full up.
Frankly, I get more of a buzz from getting a bargain than I do from eating it!
My Mother used to say that you have to speculate to accumulate.:)0 -
I do the same as moneypooh - I only bulk buy for 3-6 months as I know the same offers will come around again. One exception, own brand marmite - just bought two big jars so that's probably a years worth because I rarely see it these days.
I have a small house and little space and there can be a monetary cost to bulk buying - you're holding some assets in an illiquid form
I'm also terrible for buying something for the freezer and leaving it there for a while, I'm trying to use bargains up more quickly.:o0 -
If you're running low on mouthwash (£2.99) and toothpaste (£2.49), Morrisons are doing buy one get two free on aquafresh.0

Of course! We have about 15kg of pasta in the pantry along with 24 tins of tuna. I also bought about 8 bags of bread flour cause it was on offer for not much more than value flour!0

I took my youngest daughter out shopping today. She has just had a baby and needed disposable nappies, she's on maternity pay and doesn't have much money. She uses cloth nappies at home but likes the disposables for when she goes out.
I took my jar of coppers with me and put them in the coin machine. Got £13.50 ish.
Sainsbury's have an offer on at the moment 2 economy packs of nappies for... £13.50 , these are usually about £10 each, I got size 1 & 2 . They gave me a £5 off voucher for... Nappies and soap powder etc. So I went in again, picked up another 2 packs of size 3 & 4 and some fairy gel for £4 that is normally £8, I used the £2.50 voucher so got that for £1.50 and the two packs of nappies for £11.50 after I used the £2.50 voucher.
You should have seen the look on my daughters face, it was a picture.
There I said thats you got enough nappies to do you about a year.
I then took her into Boots got her a few wee treats with another voucher I had, got her a new hairdryer with some of my points, that was in the sale for £20, but went through the till for £13.
Apart from the coppers, I only spent about £35 cash on the whole shopping trip. And we were laden down with stuff. Loads of B1G1F's etc.
Lovely fruit & veg from Aldi.
Nice lamb chops for her dinner from Sainsbury's half price from the butcher counter.
She asked me how I managed to get so much and spent so little, MSE I replied. He He!
Thank you so much everyone! For sharing all your finds.:beer:1st Purse £114.19 Monthly GB:rotfl::j:wave::j:rotfl:
