  • lol I don't have a larder cupboard either (how I'd love one!) Most of the stuff is in boxes around the flat.

I do this when I can, currently working through a years worth of shampoo I got in January, should take me to just into the new year. Got 6 jars of horseradish in my local sainsbury's the other night - their taste the difference stuff reduced to 36p each saved over £7 so pleased with that and I love horseradish so can justify it. My trouble is tiny kitchen and not much storage, so bottom of wardrobe now housing the deals of washing up liquid and washing liquitabs! Might look daft at the check out but worth it in the purse!!!
At least the fish fingers are still frozen, that's what I keep telling myself (Truly Madly Deeply)

  • I bulk buy as much as I can - I find it easier knowing I've always got tinned stuff, loo roll, orange squash, pet food etc. I also don't have a car so going to the supermarket is difficult. I've started using Shorters Club online, who have been excellent - they specialise in bulk buying and deliver everything to your door, which saves lugging everything home from the shops.

Bought about a quarter of a million teabags when they were on 33% Extra Free and BOGOF.

Bought about 6 months' worth of tinned chilli-con-carne when Tesco had it for 25p instead of £1.

Don't do it often because I don't have a lot of storage space, and if something's on offer it'll probably come round again.

Also stock up the freezer with bread, rolls etc when on Yellow Stickers.

I also got a few tins of that chilli con carne when it was 25p. I only got 8 of them. Well, I'm now really struggling to use them because they are simply vile...
Lots of unidentified white bits, grizly skin/tendons pieces...Just put me off completely! Ugh! _pale_ even when desperate, I don't think I would eat them!
  • Makes sense to an extent, altho if you are buying larger volumes also worth factoring in the savings that can usually be got from the regular larger package sizes. I'm thinking of items like rice, pasta, loo rolls which are unlikely to deteriorate even when a large package is opened.
  • I've been buying things I use regularly when they are on offer for years. My children call me a wee hamster as I have stores of stuff everywhere, they are students and go away with carrier bags of stuff every time they visit. I reckon I could probably survive with just buying bread/milk/ fresh veg & fruit for about 6 months, though the max I've done it for is about 3 months, usually when my cash is needed for something important. Or something on my wish list, or even on my never in my wildest dreams list. This website has changed the way I spend, I used to think how much can I spend , now its how much can I save. My friends and neighbours think I have an unlimited budget, they couldn't be more wrong LOL. I have less to spend than them. The difference is I'm careful, and I regularly visit this site, especially if I'm looking for something, my latest bargain was over £1,000 worth of bedding with 75% discount + two free mattress toppers worth £70 each with £125 spend + free delivery. I split the order in two and got my two daughters the mattress toppers for the winter.

  • I've also been bulk buying for years, I mainly shop at Lidl and Aldi who I find very cheap, but generally very good products. They have lots of special offers and my larder is full to over flowing. I've recently been buying milk for 50p for two litres and Kingsmill Bread at 2 for £1.50. Both products freeze well. Good news is the milk has become regular stock.

Yes i buy in bulk and have been doing so for years. I like to buy one years supply or even more where sell by dates allow.
some items i buy are as follows. Morrisons dog food in january half price pack of six. £1.37.... Soup,Yorkshire teabags,Wine, lager. Bought 20 cases stella 4% 440fillx24 from tesco recently at about £8.50 case. To get items even cheaper use a cashback card.Sign up as new customer for tesco asda etc and get £5 from Quidco Top cashback. always
use cashback sites where possible. There are many more ways to bring the cost down. Wilkinson saver stamps 5% discount, supermarket saving schemes etc. i also buy large sacks of potatoes, bird seed, onions etc. Also now is a good time to buy coffee as prices are quite cheap at the moment. I bought 24 jars of Nescafe Parisien coffee last saturday at netto for £1.29p for a 100g jar, this is £3.69 in asda.

I usually only do this with tinned fish(namely tuna) and cosmetics. I was so gutted when I went to Lidl on wednesday to find they didn't have any 100% extra packs of free tuna in :( I could have got 6 tins for £2.98! I'm shopping for one so it's just the things I personally use a lot.

  • I recently started stockpiling cosmetics and toiletries as well as many other things. I've been going for things with extra points from boots, I reckon I can keep me and my girls going for a few years. I redeem the points for perfume for the three of us at Xmas. Before I joined this site I only did it with food/ cleaning materials etc.
I used my tesco points (doubled up to get a new microwave and a spare toaster + Kettle ( I need standbys as I do B+B). I also got my daughter a high chair for her new baby. I've had a clubcard for years but never really knew how to use it properly until I joined this site, the same with my boots card. I don't pay full price for anything now.
    Thanks to all of you!
