MET - PCN - Should I pay?

Hi,
I opened my mail today and found a parking charge notice from MET Parking services saying that i'd overstayed the 75 minute parking limit at McDonalds in Monkspath on 19th August.

My actual period of stay was 124 minutes, 49 minutes over the allotted time.

Whilst in McDonalds I didnt notice any signs where I was parked (but there was undoubtedly signage, that I just failed to notice)

I'm just in limbo, wondering whether to pay the £50 fine and contest?
Or to just pay the fine and not contest or to just completely ignore the letter and the letters that will follow?

Have MET ever taken or won court cases?

Many thanks in advance!

  • Don't pay
    Don't contest
    just ignore
    NO
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Peter is giving sound advice. 'Fines' from private parking contractors are a scam. Most of the people in here have faced down the scammers and their silly threats.
Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!
  • Just adding that the above info is correct. You will get letters, check on the forum here for what will happen, and when you get the letters, just come back here for strength and support. It will go away!

Ignore everything they will send you, unless in the very unlikely case they send you proper court papers. But the chances of that happening are probably less than the chances of San Marino winning Euro 2012.

Just watch this solicitor giving clear advice on what to do with a MET invoice.

I'm sure your answer is there.
  • Thanks!
So, would it be best to just keep all of the letters they will keep on sending me?

Lool when i first saw this post i just started laughting, I knew what the replies would and anyone who has seen the watchdog clip would be laughing even louder.

I wonder if Ann Robinson could get a load of PCC company men on Weakest link
  • I went to Heathrow on the 26th to collect my brother & his family who were returning from Finland. Although I checked the flight time before leaving the house when I got there I found out it was delayed by 2 hours.

I then went to the local mcdonalds to get some food and as many people have said the signs were not evident at all (bare in mind the time was 10pm) and add to this McDonalds took 15 minutes to serve me my Fillet O Fish meal as they had electrical issues.

I slowly ate my meal then ordered an apple pie and ice cream followed by a hot chocolate.

Only yesterday my brother informed me of the PCN sent by the MET and I thank god for these forums for identifying these jokers!

I have sent through the links to these forums to my brother so he knows what to expect. To save him and his wife hassle, should I give my address details to the MET so that they can chase me (as opposed to him)? Although I will not pay anything, I would rather they chase me then him (as he gets a little worried as all others who get their letters do)?

In addition, could you also post a message to my brother AJKenny to assure him not to worry about these Scam Services?

    Thanks to all you guys…

Tell him to ignore. The end. No don't redirect it to you, as that could be seen as accepting that you were driving and that you 'admit' you owe them the money.
