Well done Pinkarsenalprincess, you seem to be on the right road.
Having recognised the problem you now have a plan which you will enjoy watching unfold. Once you see that balance come tumbling down it gives you a great feeling of satisfaction !!
Well done so far and good luck. Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -
Thanks for the supportive message

I am sure there are going to be some really tough times ahead but at the moment I have made a very good start and am hoping to keep it that way! At the moment it feels so much more satisfying being completely in control of my finances than the feeling of bringing home something new (that I don't need).Overdrafts transferred to MBNA £953.40/£4279.80 Car insurance (on CC) £461.98/£751.98  Bank of mum and dad £1500/£5000Total debt repaid £2915.38/£10,031.78 (29%):T Owed [STRIKE]£10,031.78[/STRIKE][STRIKE] £7400[/STRIKE] £7116.40 Pay off as much as you can in 2011 challenge £1127.60/£40000 -
Spent a little bit of my £30 budget for school stuff this week but still have £20 left over so well chuffed. Am meant to be going out tonight but really don't know if I can be bothered - especially when it means spending money!
Had full service on the car today and brakes replaced so bank balance is £130 lighter. Not too much of a problem, as the bank of mum and dad won't expect a payment this month after having that done (still hoping to send some cash their way though).Overdrafts transferred to MBNA £953.40/£4279.80 Car insurance (on CC) £461.98/£751.98  Bank of mum and dad £1500/£5000Total debt repaid £2915.38/£10,031.78 (29%):T Owed [STRIKE]£10,031.78[/STRIKE][STRIKE] £7400[/STRIKE] £7116.40 Pay off as much as you can in 2011 challenge £1127.60/£40000 -
Managed to only spend £4 on night out last night after deciding to drive and not drink at all. Bit of a result really as I now have £26 left for the rest of the week if needed

Budget seems to be going well and am still enjoying being in control. Going to have a big challenge of the next week or so. Have messed up my knee and am now stuck on the sofa for at least a week under hospital orders. The desire to do some cheer up online shopping will have to be one to fight!Overdrafts transferred to MBNA £953.40/£4279.80 Car insurance (on CC) £461.98/£751.98  Bank of mum and dad £1500/£5000Total debt repaid £2915.38/£10,031.78 (29%):T Owed [STRIKE]£10,031.78[/STRIKE][STRIKE] £7400[/STRIKE] £7116.40 Pay off as much as you can in 2011 challenge £1127.60/£40000

The misery monster has reared its ugly head and brought out the shopaholic in me. Fed up with sitting around with my legs up not being able to do anything at all

Got a fashionunion sale email and spent £50 but not terrible considering I bought a few bits where they were reduced. Then got a dotty P email for their sale (my fave shop!) and spent another £50 but that did include a new pair of work trousers....threw 2 pairs away last week and 2 work cardigans. Just hope they fit!
Still in the black on my account. It just means that slipping back to my old habits gives me less money to throw at the debt at the end of the month.
Although I guess spending £100 on clothes one month is much better than the £600+ I sometimes have been known to spend.Overdrafts transferred to MBNA £953.40/£4279.80 Car insurance (on CC) £461.98/£751.98  Bank of mum and dad £1500/£5000Total debt repaid £2915.38/£10,031.78 (29%):T Owed [STRIKE]£10,031.78[/STRIKE][STRIKE] £7400[/STRIKE] £7116.40 Pay off as much as you can in 2011 challenge £1127.60/£40000 -
Typing to distract myself today. I am fed up. I can't leave the house because of this stupid injury and have too much time on my hands to think about things and be miserable.
Dancing keeps me buzzing and happy to stop me from shopping but of course I can't do that. All I want to do is shop shop shop online whilst I am sat here all day
Finding it really hard to resist the urge (as proved yesterday!) but I know I have to.
Have tried to look for some xmas pressies online but it isn't doing very well at distracting me

Just paid another £29.80 to MBNA card on top of the £250 I paid at the start of the month. Felt like rounding the balance up to £4000 instead of £4029.80 and feels good doing it!
Hoping that I will have some money left at the end of this month before payday that I can put towards it too.
Received DP parcel yesterday and managed to struggle my way into the work trousers I had bought (very tricky with leg that doesn't bend!). They are far too big so will have to go back. I suppose it is a plus because that is money going back to me, but a shame because I needed new work trousers and these were only £12 in the sale. The fashionunion stuff has just turned up so will see if anything good comes out of that!Overdrafts transferred to MBNA £953.40/£4279.80 Car insurance (on CC) £461.98/£751.98  Bank of mum and dad £1500/£5000Total debt repaid £2915.38/£10,031.78 (29%):T Owed [STRIKE]£10,031.78[/STRIKE][STRIKE] £7400[/STRIKE] £7116.40 Pay off as much as you can in 2011 challenge £1127.60/£40000
