    Hi all :)
Just been catching up after being out and about for the day. Some lovely pics today, Som, EA and I think CAFC? I like when there are pics, makes me look forward to December :)

3, thanks re video :) I know you posted that many hours ago, sorry. We are quite proud of it :D although obviously he isn't really "reading" all that, he is reading/recognising the alphabet and then remembering the little rhymes that go with the letters :p it is very cute.

weezl - since there aren't many men on here, you could try asking on the Jobs board or maybe start a new thread here in Families?
When my assistant came back from Maternity Leave and asked to go Part Time we had a few informal chats about what it meant for her in terms of her home and family life and her finances as well as about what it would mean for the business and the additional pressures that it might cause for her, for me and for others.

We discussed everything openly and honestly outside of the formal process because inside of the formal process there was only ever going to be one conclusion - that she was granted what she asked for.

No particular help to add here Weezl - I agree with MFD's position that they are indeed probably trying to be helpful, they may just have a different ("wrong") attitude to the world of parenting and careers and actually be trying to help your OH out.

I work for a very large finance co and they are good about all that stuff - in fact they pride themselves on work-life balance and flexible working. My actual immediate boss is one of those dinosaurs though, and crazy with it, but in our discussions about my family life and so on he has been both very open and honest about how my choices are not the ones he would make etc, but at the same time completely supportive about my decisions (even while letting me know he disagrees with them! iyswim). I am lucky I think. Although would love to have 2 weeks' fully paid pat leave, just the 3 days here :/

I hope your OH gets it all sorted quickly Weezl, from what you've said I have decided that it will all turn out fine :)

What else was I going to comment on...

Highchairs - we still use ours at 25 months - and will do for a little while yet I think. Partly because to be honest we don't have a good dining table type setup :o which is a shame - but also because he is perfectly happy in the highchair, but when in a normal chair is prone to roam and get distracted easily.
  • Benjamin is a strapping boy of 18 months (filling out his 18-24 month clothes) and he still fits in his fine. He can sit at the table with us but he faffs too much to be honest.

For ten quid it is definitely worth it :D

Leila's only a skinny little thing (probably on account of not being able to reach her food all those months in her rubbish high chair) and can still fit into some of her 6-9 months clothes, although those that were supposed to be trousers are now shorts!!

I'm off to Ikea tomorrow then xxxxx

I don't buy toys for my 7yr old. Sorry, I stop at 6 as they don't play much longer with toys and they have so many. Ben's having a Tv/DVD Combi from us with money put in from others . Books are good but boys tend to prefer factual rather than fiction. Lego's always cool.
Too many children, too little time!!!
    :p
  • Mookie check the stock online before you go as someone here had a wasted journey the other day cos there were none available (i think they went for a highchair anyway..was it gill?), x

    Bionicles :D

Does he like Ben 10 or has he outgrown that now?

Have you tried traditional board games? DSS loves to sit down and play monopoly or whatever (and if you let him be banker it helps his maths no end!).
Books - Astrosaurs, Horrid Henry and Beast Quest - recommend Redhouse and The Book People

I love my bebe woodline highchair.

But I do have an antillop with tray upstairs.

Beenie, I can't really see the paint colour much to comment on it, dodgy laptop screen.
