I discovered that my bread maker needs half strong flour and half plain flour because it doesn't knead the dough as well as you would be hand so the gluten doesn't get stretched enough to make it smooth using all strong flour. *nods*

Also the water has to be quite warm, just a little bit warmer than you think it needs to be. By the time it is mixed through the flour it has cooled quite a bit and then takes time to warm back up to a nice 36'c.

Howling baby is refusing to sleep. She's been lying on the floor rubbing her eyes and yawning, said Yes when I asked her if she needed a snooze, and now she is standing in the cot.

Morning all. SS, glad Molly's feeling better this morning.

Som, sausages sound nice, but anything I can think of kind of wants gravy eg bangers and mash or toad in the hole. Sausage curry or casserole would probably defeat the purpose even more.

Still got a somewhat poorly baby. She's gone from waking once to three times in the night. I was trying not to leave her in our bed after her feed, but she started licking her hands really loudly and it was driving me batty at 4.30am, so gave in and cuddled her to sleep.

We've had great trauma this morning because Alice's trampoline got blown in the wind (even though we had pegged it down). Two poles were bent (which OH has straightened) and the elastic loops which hold the net to the poles have apparently all broken. Alice was crying saying, "I'm never going to be able to bounce on my trampoline again." and, "Nobody will mend my trampoline."

It also broke the washing line but since I'm not really feeling up to hanging the washing out anyway it gives me a convenient excuse to use the dryer instead.

Have some lovely pork and apple sausages I want to do today and we were gonna go swimming and I was going to pop them in the slow coooker, but I usually do them with gravey but I dont want to ruin the yummy taste, anyone any ideas?

Yummy pork and apple sausages  I made about 21lb of them when we were at IL's the other week and then we brought them all the way home to Essex!!

Choppy here's tomato soup recipe..to be honest I dont really bother with the herbs or the celery but its personal choice I guess

    CHUNKY TOMATO SOUP
    55g unsalted butter Basil stalks
115g Carrots finely chopped Handful of parsley
115g peeled onion finely chopped 1 tbsp of thyme
115g celery finely chopped Pinch of caster sugar
2 garlic cloves peeled and chopped Salt and pepper
675g tomatoes roughly chopped 1.2 litres chicken stock
    150ml single cream
    • Melt the butter in a large pan and sweat the carrot, onion and celery together
    • After 3 mins, add the garlic, chopped tomatoes plus the basil, parsley, thyme, sugar and season. Stew for 10 mins.
    • When almost all of the liquid has disappeared. Add the chicken stock and cook for further 20 minutes.
    • Pass through a sieve or blend using hand blender - not too fine
    • Put the soup back in a clean pan and bring to the boil. Add the cream and stir in.

Some of the rest of it frustrated me in the way the women were portrayed, so I was glad that wasn't you! Thanks for saying when it was on :)

*hugs for Sophie, Molly and Alice* (I still find it quite traumatic when something I really love gets broken lol) and bigger hugs for their Mummy's who I'm sure need them more.

*looks out at rain* I'm very jealous that anyone can contemplate hanging washing out today! Weather here is awful.

SS, looks like I posted way too soon about Molly feeling better. Hope she does manage to settle though, for both your sakes.

Susan, poor Alice, it's not nice when things get broken. The weather has been pretty bad lately though hasn't it?

I love homemade bread, but don't really make it as the crust is too hard for OH teeth. He has a lot of issues with them, due to a previously misdiagnosed medical problem. He was told he was bulimic and sent for counselling, and it was really something wrong with a gastric sphincter that wasn't opening, so instead of going down, food was sitting there, and then coming back up

Bexta, Screamadelica eventually fell asleep sitting up on my knee :rotfl: She is now sprawled out in the big bed while I fold and put away her laundry, make Inane Bingo Posts, eat my own breakfast, tidy round and do some work work.
