Anyone use a breadmaker here? my dad has offered me his cos he never uses it, ive no worktop space though, but would be good if the bread turns out nice, but does it work out cheaper after you've bought the flour/yeast ect? saying that would be handy when we've run out of bread and i cba going shop lol!

I've got a Panasonic one that is used almost every day. I know the brown bread recipe by heart. It takes a few minutes to chuck the ingredients in, and four hours later, a beautiful loaf comes out!

I costed it out a while back at 60p a loaf using Tesco own brand flour, but it tastes like a premium loaf rather than Value bread.

I only buy ready made bread now if I forget to make some or if Tesco send me extra points on bread vouchers :o

Aww Tigs was fab :) I'm so glad I knew about the happy ending.

It made me far from broody tho....in fact I was getting panicky and feeling sick at the thought of labour! 2 glasses of wine later and I'm nice and chilled!

We're off to Northampton for the day tomorrow to visit my little sis so I won't be about much tomorrow. I'll have to find time to squeeze my bingo port posts in lol

ETA - anyone who makes their own bread....how do you cut it? Whenever I get a loaf I need to cut I make all the slices too big and uneven!

Becky, I don't think any ones mentioned it but just wondered if you know about nipple shields? My sister used them and got on really well with them - she was suffering as her nipples were quite flat to start with.

    evening all,

hugs for poorly babies and mummys and yay for enjoying 1st days

can't remember who was talking about schools, but we have chosen to send ds to a private school for a few reasons. I went to a horrible school where there was a lot of bullying, drugs, someone once brought a gun to school! locking teachers in cupboards etc etc and vowed i would make sure my children did not have to go through that, secondly there wrap around care allows him to be looked after from 7.30 untill 6.30 at night which whilst he won't have such a long day every day it will be necessary on occasion and having been to a few childminders to have a look really wasn't impressed! Also the school ds was offered have a class of 30 as the school is really over subscribed and he's one of these children that will quite easily blend into the background and needs pushing to try anything that he's not confident about, the class he's in has 8 children and a full time teaching assistant as well as the teacher. With us both working full time by the time I'd of picked him up he'll be ready for bed and not capable of doing a great deal with us.

Anyway just thought i'd share that..

On feeding news, had awful night ended up getting oh up while i had to go for a drive as was ready to do something drastic. Phoned the helpline and spoke to lovely lady who was really helpful and soooo non-judgemental and it was really good just to vent to her, she gave me some tips but reminded me that my sanity was important too. Tried various different positions etc but this afternoon went and bought a tin of formula, fed her 4 oz which she guzzled down like there was tomorrow then promptly fell asleep for 4 hours. I got two hours sleep had a bath sorted some housework and felt like a new person. So have decided to express what I can and give formula as needed. It was getting to the point I couldn't bear to be near her incase she was hungry and decided it was more important to have a baby that I can stand to be near and not hate for simply being hungry. Feel like a the world has been lifted off me and I can finally enjoy my daughter.

Sorry for epic post but needed to get it all off my chest, feel free to ignore!!!!!!

  • I'm way too tired to function. A busy late !!!! at work followed by a 5:30 wake up call does not make for a cheerful mummy.

Get your tissues at the ready Kindof, Cherry has a Baby is a tear jerker.

I only really make dough in my breadmaker then either make rolls or something fancy and bake in the oven.

    Off to write about Bingo!

I love the novelty of my breadmaker but it's a bit fiddly - I'm still trying to find the perfect balance of ingredients to stop my loaves being dense.

And yes, we're up extremely early. Morning GISI, KOAG  Molly seems loads better today but still woke extremely early even after her 10:30pm bedtime, I wonder if the loginess of yesterday just meant she didn't need as much sleep *shrug* She's now refusing cereal so it's time for nappy and dressed and hopefully I can figure out a way to get a shower while she snoozes. If she snoozes; if not I have to go out grubby.

  • I remember looking at the baby dept in Harvey Nicks when I was pregnant. I didn't buy anything but some of the designer baby clothes are so cute. Totally not worth the money though 'cos it all gets pooped on and sicked up on all the same! Now I know what baby clothes have to go through I even begrudge Next and Gap :rotfl:.

I hope Molly lets you grab a shower, SS. We don't want smelly folk on here :rotfl: (says she sat in her dressing gown, which to be honest would benefit from a wash).
