Sami, how did you teach Christopher to read?

Obviously we're nowhere near that stage yet, but it sounds really interesting. You're totally entitled to have the proud mummy moment - your boys sound like such sweethearts.
I haven't done anything too special, just what I would expect most parents that recognise the loveliness of reading would do :) I have little help from my mum though (She is a HLTA in a primary school, and has been teaching children to read for roughly 25yrs:cool:)
I think the main thing is to read anything and everything and to always point at the word as you say it. Anything I read I say out loud, like signs in a lift or instructions on gravy granules :rotfl:
We have some nice flash cards and fridge magnets from tesco, the magnets we read while we wait for his milk to warm in the microwave before bed. He's picked it up by osmosis really, we just a few mths ago started to teach him why a word says what it does (proper name is phonics) Mum has some of the free printables from a website called letters and sounds that she does with him when he's there.

Reading is definitely where his natural talent is though, until very recently his drawing style was way behind average :)

Lily was up again last night. She keeps freaking out because she cant breath when her nose is blocked and she has a dummy in.

But she wont sleep without the dummy in and im sooo very tired!

Kitkat, mine took about a month to come through i think.

When i finish work i need to tell everyone my income has changed, not looking forward to waiting on the phone to get throgh for ages.

I'm not fully caught up so someone may have already said this but I've seen a dummy in asda/tesco that has a little space for decongestant drops, could be worth a try :)

Krystal I'd have a word with Aimee's new teacher and kindly ask her if she's bothered to listen to her read/looked at her reading record from last year.

off to Church, will catch up later.

I spoke to her Friday, she said to note in the reading record that is was too easy and see what happens Monday when they replace her book (It's the TA that deals with reading books, not the teacher) if it doesn't improve then to go back and speak to her again and she'll have a word...

It's not too worrying because she's got a squillion books that she loves to read to me so I know she's not understimulated... But it's annoying that it's poorly documented at the school, what else could they be getting wrong?

Missed church again today... Hubby got up with the girls and left me to sleep, he's taken Caitlyn off the Morrisons to pick up some food and Aimee's gone off to play upstairs so I'm all alone... Might clean up the rats and hoover the living room...

    I'm so rock and roll...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Hoovering shall not be taking place... sent Landen into a crying fit.... he breaks my heart yet makes me smile when he cries coz he just looks so cute....

    Hes finally drifted off....
Bit concerned about his feeding though the past 3 days.... he's not taking full bottles... screams for food, takes about 80mls and then just plays about with it....
Plus I dont know if he should be feeding for his weight or his age?i.e the suggestion for his weight is something like 210mls 5 times a day, whereas his age is 180mls 5 times a day.....ponder ponder.....

Usually its for their weight. If you google it the baby centre website should come up and it tells you :)

Edit, its 2.5 ounces per pound of weight a day. I usually divide that between how many bottles she has a day :)
