    Morning all

Chose not to go to the 30th party last night in the end quite voluntarily because a few of my friends who had been going cancelled; I wouldn't have known many people and half the point was a chance to catch up (and it was about an hour's travel away). I am so old! But at one with this fact this morning.

Elijah has been deprived of his nap both Friday and Saturday, which has frankly been awesome because he has gone down early, not needed re-settling, and slept in late. Not sure it's a sustainable model though, OH needs that daytime break some days, and I need him to be awake in the mornings by 7.15 to function with my work routine... ponder. It's been very nice at the weekend though :)

Cute things - yesterday and today, when he has eventually woken up he just quietly calls "dadden... dadden coming?" until I appear then reaches up for cuddles. Once in cuddles, he says "Elijah... had sleepy time??" in amazement while staring at me all wide-eyed :p I like it.

Then watching Numberjacks every time the Shape Japer appeared this morning he leapt out of his chair, rushed across the room and sprung into my lap for shelter! Muttering "oooo... the sape japer... uh oh...".

Anyway. So quite cheerful this morning, slept in myself til 8.15 which is pretty much unheard of as body clock wakes me even if midge doesn't. No big plans for today, maybe a walk on the common and some sorting out of spare room junk. Hope everyone else's days are nice, and Maz where is our picture of the silver medal winning courgette cake?? :)

Applause for Beenie's late-night DIY, you are very heroic!

Credit cards - powerful tool, double-edged sword etc, if you don't trust yourself/fully understand them then getting rid of them is good I guess. I have gigantic, huge amounts of unused credit available on credit cards, OH finds it very very scary but I don't, I find it reassuring and one more safety net. I would cancel/reduce £30-40k of it well in advance of applying for a mortgage though! Been a long time since I wasn't clearing the balance every month, would have to be a real emergency to willingly start carrying a big balance on one again.

SS, I don't think the police would've been arresting Beenie so much as giving her news?! Although obviously I hope she escapes arrest too.

Ladybird, looks like a great day out :D Elijah is the same about gardens and such and has been for ages - when he gets tired he is impossible to drag away from whatever 'interesting feature' without major battles. Yesterday coming home from the park, we spent 5 minutes at someone's gravel driveway while he picked up loose pebbles escaping the drive and tossed them back in... then another 3 minutes while he collected leaves fallen from a tree and posted them down a storm drain... then he ran into someone's garden and tried to open their front door where he'd seen a cat in the past... etc etc :)

Congratulations angelcake, is that what got you joining the new forum in the first place?? :)

Jenny, sorry you're struggling with the thread! I miss your more regular posting - you don't have to fully catch up y'know, most of us don't :p keep posting please!

  • Morning lovely people

I went out last night to a family party and left Alfie with our good friend. First time I've left him with anyone but my mum and I was a bit nervous but he was fine. I put him to bed so he slept the whole time I was out so not too bad really.

Hugs all round especially for rubbish OHs

It's my wedding anniversary today! Hubby only got in from work 4 hours ago so letting him sleep a bit longer then sausage sandwiches for breakfast, all going to Magna today then Alfie is going to mum's while we go out to eat here.

Looking forward to opening cards when DH gets up as I've got us tickets to see Russell Howard in Feb and think DH will love it :D

Well done Becles on sticking with the boot camp! How much have you lost now? (If you don't mind me asking)

    Morning all.....

got a 12 hour break last night, from 6:30 till 6:30..... I really should learn and go to bed when he does LOL

Beenie - sadly a lot of alco's think like that, because they dont have a drink first thing....but if you cant go out without having a drink or going a day, or drinking to excess on a regular basis... then you have an alcohol problem....

Thanks to all for the mini celebration of finding my bracelet... felt much happier after finding it...

really need to have a clean up of the house today....desperately needs hoovering....

hugs to all who need them xx

I need some advice please...we're tentatively looking at new houses. A big priority now needs to be schools but how can I tell a good school?? Rightmove lists them and I've had a look at the very basic offstead report but they all seem to have scored mainly 1s with a few 2s...even the rough school near where we are now! What should I be looking for?

Its hard to look at how things are on paper..what you really need to do is go and visit the schools in person.. this will give you a really good idea of the feel of the school.. its important to note that schools can change for different reasons.. a school that has previously not been great can turn around say if a new head comes in etc.. equally a great school can become less great if a new head comes in.. and changes things that made the school great in the first place.. also worth talking to the neighbours of houses you may be thinking of buying, especially if they have kids, as they may be able to recommend somewhere.. Good luck xx
  • Hi all, I have poorly sore feet, too much walking around in beautiful but impractical shoes :(

We had a lovely night out though :D

    Can't remember a thing that I read...

    Congratulations to angelcake

Either me or hubby get in the bath with Benjamin every time he goes in, I love it, one of the best parts of the day! We have lots of fun!
