Can I do my work rant now? I'll keep it brief (ish:rotfl:).

Some of you may remember that I took a demotion when I went back so that I could be nearer to home and have a little bit less stress. I took a relatively small salary cut, plus cut my days from 5 to 3. However it is kind of becoming clear that I was demoted in title only, and if anything now have more responsibility than I did before. I am supporting a mgr who is really struggling and effectively I am managing the three days I am there and he is keeping things afloat the four days I am not (I work in retail so it's a seven day a week business). I kind of don't mind as I'm doing what I'm good at, and it's nice to have a challenge but I really resent having (a) lost my job title and (b) taking a pay cut, albeit a small one. Should I just suck it and see, or point out that I think it is a little unfair?

Feel free to ignore if you CBA to read :rotfl:. I'll stop being a spoiled brat now and go to bed .

My mum is coming up tomorrow, apparently we arranged it but i dont remember and its not on my calender, everything goes on my calender.

GISI, I'd wait and see, then when you're ready for full-time again make plans to take over, sounds like she won't have a leg to stand on. But then that's just me.

GISI - I think it's very unfair but unfortunately is the nature of the business. My assistant manager is effectively running my store while I'm off as my mat cover is carp If you are on good terms with your line manager it might be worth pointing it out and seeing what he/she says. I'm willing to bet they already know who's doing all the work though!

The upshot may be that the manager gets spoken to/disciplined and walks....which could leave the vacancy open for you....and if it's anything like my company then you would have a very stressful time of it until they find someone else. If you don't want it and are happy as you are then you may be cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Thanks Gill. That is certainly the way I sense it is going, but who knows....I think I'll just keep my head down and plough on.
