That's easy....the debts aren't due yet.
My letter was dated 6.9.10. The start date on the letter was 6.9.10, due 4.10.10, received by me on 24.9.10.
Any start date later in September may not have gone out yet.....and may not go out now....we'll have to wait and see, but I definitely think that this is the 'end game' in this scam.
If I'm wrong, we'll all still be on this thread at the end of October! It doesn't really matter though, we know that we're right, we've done the right things, and we've supported and encouraged each other as well. That more could we want?....other than answers from Experian!0 -

I started this thread last month and am amazed to now see 18 pages of posts and 16000+ views. Got the original letter from MCO, e-mailed and got a reply cancelling account. They said they wouldn't contact me again.
Guess what, yesterday I got a similar letter from Helploan - same amount and loan reference.
Anyone else out there had 2 letters? Replies appreciated thanks.0 -

I believe that you are the first to have received 2 letters, grahamqat. The big question is - does it have the same loan reference number, bank account number etc as the first one?
If you haven't already done so, I wouls strongly encourage you to contact Action Fraud - 0300 123 2040 - and get a Crime Reference Number - they are open until 8 pm and also tomorrow morning. Don't select button 1 re MCO but wait on the line - keep persevering and don't wait for them to callback (that can take up to a week - and possibly longer). You will eventually get through. Once you get your CRN, send a letter (not an email) to MCO Capital registered address referring to and quoting the CRN etc0 -

Hi grahamqat
I have had my second letter recently.
You need to contact Action Fraud to get a crime reference number, then send another letter to MCO.0 -
Hi WigW
Welcome aboard and your legal insight is much appreciated.
That said, I would strongly urge you to contact Action Fraud (at 0300 123 2040) as they are the public window/gateway to the National Fraud Investigation Branch and the more complainees there are the better (as advised by an AF agent). Once you get your CRN from AF, it is recommended that you write to MCO again (at their registered office) quoting the CRN.
Thanks - I logged the issue with AF last night and have got my crime ref number. I have a friend who works for NFIB so will make a call this evening to see if this has come to their attention yet.0 -
Thanks for help/advice folks. Have logged both letters with AF. and the loan reference was the same in both cases. This doesn't look like ID fraud to me. The total loaned capital is estimated at >£8 B. MCO dont have access to such funds so the loans probably do not exist. This means the letters are probably the fraud, and that if the criminals get just a 0.1% hit, they've made £8 M. It's quite conceivable that older people without Internet access may repay out of fear of debt collectors etc. People who suspect their partners have taken out a loan might also repay to avoid future problems. We're talking about 1 in 1000 people - not very much. Be slightly wary in contacting Experian by the way. They say they need your credit card details for a free service. Fact is they dont; only your address.0

Cynicism is a speciality of mine, so I may be wrong, but firmly believe that the boys behind this will go all the way, because they have no fear at all of our legal process, nor police.
I think we can all expect second letters, and probably an escalation of letters to the debt collection threats. This thread has had 16,000 views - how many people does this scam actually involve? The numbers are mind-boggling, and the fraud may well be a major attempt on a bank, insurance company, or simply "see how many people can be frightened into paying up".
This isn't going away, unless somebody with the power to do it, actually takes a comprehensive look at MCO Capitals books, determines the truth, and acts in the public interest. As most of you will be aware, that puts this way down the governments priority list;-)0 -
I think I'm with you on that colinho. I'm not sure checking on MCO will tell you much. It does exist as a non-trading company but I think the fraudsters have just hijacked the name. There is an HSBC account referenced in my second letter - this needs to be investigated by the authorities to see who opened it.0
