Thanks for the input Colin. It just crossed my mind that perhaps the sting is yet to come when MCO sell thousands of non-existing unpaid loans to debt collectors? They will have many details of applicants from their web-site (some real, some made up possibly), and a portfolio of apparent debt that they might then attempt to sell on. If the debt collectors are as lax in their procedures as the lenders, then MCO stand to make a lot of money by scammimng them.
I believe that MCO has already placed the debts in the hands of debt collectors - it is believed that Intrum Justitia are the current collectors which is why they were answering all the calls to the telephone number provided in the Helploan letters? Now IJ are telling anyone who phones that the police are involved and they cannot help callers at present.

As George says, it seems that it's already happened - and in terms of the possibility of this being a scam on the collection agencies, OldBloke flagged that one some time ago, so he definitely wins the "Perceptive poster of the month" award;-) I really think the scammers, and debt collection agencies, will continue to aggressively pursue clearly innocent people, that's how they work. I still wonder if there would be a possibility of a class action against the Fiddling Finn, or the collection agencies for harassment ( especially if second letters are received after the sort of steps you took)

Must confess I haven't read every post - well done Oldbloke - wasn't trying to steal your thunder. I agree with you that the campaign to recover debt may be hotly pursued. The debt collectors wont worry about where the money comes from and what side of the law they are on.

I have now received two letters from MCO stating the same thing. I have however never received a copy of a loan agreement or any other details from them.

I have written to both Imperial House and the Bressenden address and sent all copies via email to all four helploan emails and to the Niklas Furu email address.

I have reported it to my local police and to Action Fraud and sent all the reference numbers to those address detailed above.

I have checked all three credit agenceies. Experian, Equifax and CallCredit. Equifax and CallCredit are fine with no dodgy entries. Experian has a dodgy "associated address" which I have nothing to do with and two MCO searches. Experian have removed the associated address and are writing to MCO to remove the searches.

It is alot of work but you MUST do the above if you are to protect yourself from this.

As we do not know yet whether MCO themselves are the fraudster or a victim of fraud, do not give them any information they do not already have (don't sign letters or give them your bank details asking them if they are the details they hold).

It is they who are claiming you owe them money. State you owe them nothing and insist they prove it to the contrary if they wish to claim it from you.

£300 and £213 costs for a 30 day loan? I must live a sheltered life, I would never of thought any company would legally be allowed to get away with that nonsense.

May I draw you attention to the updated web site for Action Fraud where there is now advice from the NFIB (National Fraud Investigation Branch) - see:
    http://www.actionfraud.org.uk/mco-capital-limited-sep10 (Updated yesterday)
In this we are advised NOT TO ATTEMPT TO CONTACT MCO CAPITAL DIRECT.
Unfortunately, like yourself I had already sent a letter to MCO containing my CRN from Action Fraud!
Receiving one letter is bad enough - it must be even worse to have received 2 of the damnable things!!!

Just received a very odd email from the amazing vanishing niklas furu at mco capital. It says : "dear customer, please see attachment" and has no subject. The attachment is in rtf format, has no heading, and consists entirely of:
    Dear Customer,

You recently informed us that you did not receive a loan from MCO Capital. The first step you should take is to contact a credit reference agency to alert them of this matter, one agency is Experian at

Does it look like they've completely lost the plot? Come on police guys, close their websites, and get your EAW delivered.

I don't see why they are asking us not to contact MCO direct. I would rather have on record that I have attempted to make them aware of the fraud.

I don't think you would lose anything by writing or emailing to them and keeping a copy. It is probably because they cannot handle the volume of correspondence. I also suggests, interestingly, that they have reported the matter themselves to the Fraud Squad (in whatever format they may be) and are waiting for them to report.

What they now need to do is contact all those to whom they have sent letters, apologise and tell them the matter is closed at their end.

    I live in hope....

I got exactly the same email from Niklas on the 29th September - same wording!! As you say, there is no logic as to what is happening unless you can envisage Nik as being the sole person behind this sending out emails as quickly as he can as an individual??

I suspect that the NFIB have asked us not to make any further contact with MCO as we may be either overwhelming the system or clouding the issue when it's not now necessary - they seemnow to have involved the City of London police to help out. When you think about it the NFIB/police have all our CRNs and hence all our details and don't need any more - as you say, hope springs eternal!!

I'm much happier envisaging him frantically trying to send mails whilst his door is being broken down by some very large annoyed Estonian investors. The remains will, of course, be asked if they've been naughty by our fraud squad:-)
