I was sure that the claim wasn't relevent to me, but to my daughter.

Why do you think it was not relevant to you, it was your insurance policy on a vehicle you owned just because it was your daughter that was driving does not mean that any claims should not be declared when taking out a new policy, the insurance has paid out to repair your car it does not matter who was driving, it was the car that was insured not you or your daughter.

Just thought I would add to the mix. In process of getting quotes for insurance and eg Endsleigh Insurance ask

    "Accidents, Thefts, Losses or Convictions
Have you or any other person who will drive under this policy:
Had any accidents, thefts or losses, regardless of blame, in the last 5 years
    yes no
    "

Clearly if the OP was answering this question the answer would be no. When entering the details of the accident you have to state which person was driving (only being offered the choice of the drivers you are putting onto the policy).

I was also speaking to Endsleigh about this as my wife had an accident (and claim) whilst driving on my car insurance and she told
me the claim stays with the driver. ie on my policy she would be a named driver with a claim; on her policy she would be the proposer with a claim.

    No.

The OP has told us about the loss he experienced (albeit when his car was driven by his daughter).

So the correct answer for the OP is "YES".

    That is correct.

However if the "offending" named driver is removed from your policy, then you (the policyholder) must declare the incident on proposals (within the time frame being asked about).
