Claire's Accessories butterfly not gold as sold
BabbleBubble
Both my daughters have recently had their ears pierced and both now have infected piercings. I specifically asked and was ensured that all parts including the butterfly were 9ct gold. My receipt clearly states 9ct gold. When I removed the earrings I find that the stud and post are gold but the butterfly are not (which is where the infection is). Do I have any rights?

You have the right to sue them for £1 million and get them shutdown.0

Have you had the butterfly tested to prove this?
There are many many sites and forums out there who will tell you 1001 reasons why your daughter's ears are infected and they will probably not be because the butterfly may or may not have been gold. Establishments such as Claires who use "guns" as opposed to needles for piercings are not rated at all in the piercing world the main reason being the risk of infection.
I would concern myself with easing the infection, keeping the ears clean, if you know anyone who wears contact lenses then the fluid is the best for keeping ears clean and infection free. Dont waste your time on your rights.0 -
new piercings should be all gold, or surgical steel or Titanium and plain for ease of cleaning. Get a real piercer to change the earrings and stop being a grubber. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Lol, Pcombo.
Foggster, yes obviously my main concern is the infection which is being treated.
The butterfly are magnetic, gold is not magnetic.
Do you not think that I should take issue up with trading standards?0 -

Someone who is asking on a forum about their rights when there little girls are having infected earlobes.
My brother had an infection and ended up with a growth on his ear because he didn't look after it properly. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

You appear to have missed the point. Point being...... do I have any rights for being mis-sold.0

Do you have any knowledge on this subject?0

Are the butterflies maybe gold plated?
While for some people not having solid gold isnt a problem, i'm allergic to a lot of metals and it basically just eats away at my skin until it bleeds.
So even having my ears pierced for 20+ years, it wouldnt so much be about the infection caused but more about the fact that i'd be sold something wrongly.
That being said, i would make sure it was solid gold and not just gold plated. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Infection aside, if they are described as 9ct Gold they shouldn't be plated.
Ignore the idiots on here and report them to trading standards, you could also phone their Head Office and see what they say.
Personally I would be very annoyed being conned like this.0
