Ok, erm.... I think i'll call them anyway just to be sure, phone on loud speaker and record the conversation just to cover my back.

Fair enough... but you're wasting your time (& money)!

Then again , you've wasted everyone's time here by asking for advice then completely ignoring it!!

When i last sorned a car, i had to inform the DVLA of where the sorned car was going to be kept .........

I'm pretty sure you are correct, isn't there something on the form that asks the address where the car will be kept??

I'd have done the same thing in your place Strider, just for peace of mind.

    Try this;

United Kingdom Government News: STATUTORY OFF ROAD NOTIFICATION ...sacore:green.gif
STATUTORY OFF ROAD NOTIFICATION - SORN CAR OFF THE ROAD? ... The address at which the vehicle is to be kept off road must be inserted in the space ... If you need to declare SORN and you do not have a V11 or V85/1 and are not applying ... The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh's State Visit to the US - 3rd - 8th May, 2007 ...

I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Form V890 sorn declaration is available to download here http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/@motor/documents/digitalasset/dg_065269.pdf

Nowhere does it ask where the vehicle is to be kept!

Explain the link I posted above then;)

The link you have posted contains an article from 2001. Things have changed more than once since then!

The link to the V890 SORN form that Paradigm has posted is the most up-to-date version available.

Perhaps check your sources before posting incorrect information? ;)

    No need for hostility....

What a great example you set......
I asked for experiences and while the answers were useful they did not directly match my own circumstances..... The DVLA are swine's for finding ways to fine and extort money out of innocent tax payers and I simply wanted to avoid that situation (hence money saving).

The V5 document isn't very clear as to whether the address of the vehicle is relevant..... I shows the address of keeper, it does not say "address of owner". While I own the car, it is kept at another property 15miles away by someone else.
When you deal with the DVLA, you HAVE TO read between the lines.
“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

What did the DVLA do to you in the past that you're so hostile towards them?
  • For all the DVLA know is that you could be storing the SORN'ed car in a lock up 20 miles away. So you moving house wouldn't affect the car's location.

It's only insurance who require the address of where the car is usually kept.

I've not SORN'ed anything since 2004 so don't know what has changed or not.

There is no hostility whatsoever :)

The V5 is as clear as day, the DVLA don't ask or are they interested in where the vehicle is kept.
The reg keeper & owner can be 2 seperate people.... all the DVLA want is the reg keeper details because they are, legally, the point of contact.

Before you get too personal read what I said earlier. IE I clearly remember having to state where I kept a car that was sorned.

The op asked the following question, the clues in the topic title "Anyone ever had to inform DVLA of change of SORNed vehicle address???? "

Yes the link covered the whole index from 2000 onwards, the quote was from 2007.

I used to keep a "summer" car that was road legal so I taxed it for a year and cancelled 4 month tax every year over the winter. SORN has to be declared on the surrender form. This was for 5 or 6 years up to not more than 3 years ago. Why should there be a requirement on that form and not on the sorn?, assuming it's changed

You will also note that my posts are failsafe, ok the op may or may not need to inform DVLA, but by doing what he has done he has it covered.
