Why do people like to interfere?

Hi,

Been with my partner a long time with 3 children. We are not married been living together or as some people would put it "living in sin”. We are happy but have not got around to tying the knot yet in an official marriage ceremony.

Yet our not been married has met with derision from our relatives, it seems by their hints that we are doing something very wrong. I suppose they are fairly religious and maybe this is part of it, I just don't know. So far I haven't paid much attention to them, but just wonder as to why they think they should make hints or interfere?

Thanks
John

No they shouldn't but people will do.

I got a mouthful of abuse from an old man on the bus 2 days ago, he was ranting about me being an unwed mother, and then kept crossing himself, then called my DD a B*****. Some people are boggling!

I wouldn't worry about it. If you are both happy with things as they are then stuff what everyone else thinks.
    Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j
  • I agree, stuff what everyone else thinks - do what is best for you.

We had the opposite and got married quite quickly. Our friends and relatives kept on and on about how it wouldn't last and tried to stop us but 15 years later and we are still smiling and together.
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

we get it too. We have been together for 14 years & have 2 beautiful children. Constantly getting asked by family & friends.

We will get married one day, but it will be when we want to, not when somebody else wants us to!

I hope you've made legal arrangements to protect your situation. If you haven't, if one of you should become seriously ill or die, the family would have more rights than the partner.

i am married and i still get peeps who seem to like to have an opinion on everything we do.

it doesn't matter what you do in life but there will always be someone who will have an opinion on anything and everything. i now don't let anything anyone says or do bother me. once i'm home the door is shut and the world is shut out. when i'm out and about i'm polite but i keep myself to myself. i am so happy and so is hubby and the kids. no one elses opinion really matters to us.

I think it doesn't matter what ur situation - people like to have their opinion.

I'm married and have no children, people seem to think they have the right to ask all sorts of questions about why, are we trying, whats wrong with me for not wanting children... I may as well have told them I like to eat live chickens!

Try not to let it get to you - I know it's easier said than done.

if it were me next time someone asked if i was getting married - I'd ask if they were going to pay for it!!! they willsoon shut up or change the subject!

    lol

    Too right they do!!

I have 'too many children' but apparently 'need' to even it up so need another one.. My sister is 'wrong' not wanting any at all and my other sister is wrong for just wanting to stick at 1.

When are OH and I getting married??.. erm.. never.. at least not until a. he asks/wants to and b. my divorce comes through lol.. but the baby will be a b*****d.. no, she will be loved and cherished and spoiled same as my others!

Why do I have so many cats?.. because nobody else would take the 2 little ones on so I kept them!

Whatever you do is wrong in someones eyes so f**k the lot of them and live you life how you want to!!! (within reason I do not advocate anti social behaviour!) You cannot please everyone so please yourself!

I hate things that start with 'why don't you... ?' ... I always want to follow it with.. why don't you eff off and mind you own business.. and if you worried about your own life as much as you appear to mine you might be in a better place!'

  • Because some people think their opinions are oh-so important that they simply must be voiced, whether you want to hear them or not.
For me, I wish people wouldn't question my decision not to have children. They always seem to think it's something I've given no thought to and they'll be able to convince me that I really want kids by saying things like 'it's different when it's your own'.

Maybe they just like wedding cake. You could always buy a little iced christmas cake (they are bound to be in the shops now) replace the christmas decs with wedding ones and give it to them saying you didn't want them to miss out on it. Then tell them to shut up so you can all get on with your lives. :rotfl:
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j
