Sold leftover carpet for £20 on fb and it was collected almost straightaway. I'll pay that off a cc first thing tomorrow. It rained late afternoon which saved me doing it with the broken watering can. I must buy a new one tomorrow. I'd spotted some lovely plants in the zoo recently and discovered they are evergreen azaela. I saw some in h0mebase for £3.99 when i went to buy grass seed and am really tempted to buy some although i don't know exactly where I'd plant them!
Dh working for a few hours in the morning then we are off to the zoo hopefully whilst the joiner fits the utility room. I can't wait for that to be done! It's going to finish off the extension works perfectly.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I would not have thought about selling left over carpet. Have some in the workshop and will now try to get rid of it, thanks Cath.
Azaela are lovely and flower twice per year - we have some bordering our flower garden. Bought them a few years ago from Tesco for 25p reduced from £5 IIRC.
Glad to hear the extension is almost finished.2018 totals:

It sold really quickly Alex and in hindsight I could have charged more as had so much interest. It was over 5m long but fairly narrow as it was leftover from DD room. I have used fb selling sites quite a lot over the years especially as the children outgrew things.
I didn't know they flowered twice a year so that's a bonus. I'd like to put them in the ground by am aware they need ericaceous compost but wondering if i could just plant and use an ericaceous fertiliser. We don't have many plants in the ground and they don't do particularly well in pots.
Had an early start this morning so have already painted a door. It was either that or a workout! Just having a coffee and a browse on here whilst it dries then I'll do another quote. Our decorator said the doors need four coats and I'm usually not very good at giving it that final coat so am glad i know it NEEDS four! :rotfl:June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I'm going to have to investigate selling sites on facebook, there's quite a few things I could get rid of that isn't worth a lot of money and could be of interest.
Ours flower twice a year. They were just planted into the soil and have stayed healthy.
 Re. you already painting a door before 8.30am.Wish I could be that active in the morning.

It is worth it especially for larger items. Some people do want items for next to nothing though! I'd been awake since 5:20am so was raring to go by 7.
Post bank holiday bank accounts checked. Credit card payments still to debit account so will check cc at the end of the week. Carpet paid for yesterday and by adjusting utility and carpet expenses to come out of extension fund we are only missing £505 of my backpay! At least that's an improvement
50p on y0ugov so 450 points to go.57p Tilly tidy today and have looked into a cc balance transfer deal. It's a 3.5% fee but 0% until July 2020. I'm undecided whether to add some or all of the t3sco balance as psychologically i don't like the idea of the cc debt going up but it's costing us money. I've tried to use it to stooze this month gor our bigger expenses, however I may need to bite the bullet and transfer it.
Sun is shining so I'll put out the washing and see what today's plan is. Children are still off and I'm back to work tomorrow so hopefully we can do something funJune 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Morning, it's hump day and my first of two working days this week. I honestly think 2-3 days at work is ample!
We had a simple but productive day yesterday. I took the children to the park twice and dh took them when he got in from work aswell. I had a diary catch up whilst they were out and after reading about flowers on Watty's diary decided to dig a border in the garden! Part of the garden is landscaped but only suitable for pots rather than in the ground. I will grow sweet peas successfully this year!
Joiner friend called yesterday and the utility room units are in. Still need the doors, plinths and worktop but it's really taking shape. He's calling again today so it will be mostly finished by the time i get in from workJune 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Morning. Have been awake since just before 5am so having a quick coffee before tackling today's jobs. Interestingly it seems the early hours is ideal to find solutions to some stresses we are experiencing at the moment. All will be ok as i have a plan!
Budget needs to be reworked as dh is losing his bonus at work and his hours are changing which means overtime will be impossible. This has been the stressful situation as i think he's going to apply for another job which has plus and minus points. Thankfully we have never factored this into the budget but it went towards a little extra in dh pocket, a mortgage OP and the overtime always came in handy.
50p on youg0v yesterday so am close to payout, sold some leftover worktop for £20, returned unused utility items for a £79 credit note and sold some garden toys for £5 which are being collected later. Dh is currently at a carboot sale so it's major decluttering here!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Sorry to hear about the overtime loss, glad you didn't rely on it so it's not such a major impact on your lives.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Sorry to hear about the OT loss - but maybe a new job will be a good thing? Or maybe DH will make more money as basic in another one.0
