Yes measurements are in feet :)

Our quotes varied from £38k for everything (the quite we went for but went higher spec with fittings) to £47k for a shell and £53k for everything. When we had the £53k quote I was so deflated as we couldn't afford that amount and certainly couldn't justify it.

Working week done :) it's my birthday tomorrow and I was thoroughly spoiled by colleagues today.

Today has flown! Have been out with DD all morning at a piano festival which was a really good experience. It was a bit spendy as she had a gap in performances a so between admission,, chocolate muffins and a new piano book I've spent about £20! Dh also I bought wine whilst I was out! Nothing else planned for the rest of the day now. It's freezing here today though and really overcast so trying not to put the heating on. Not sure I've ever put it on in May before!

Dh bought me some clothes yesterday and I treated myself to some plants. Through some clever use of vouchers at our local fancy garden centre I got 2 bottles of red wine, gardening gloves, 2 huge bags of quality compost, sweet peas, geraniums and two courgette plants, and 2 solar lights for just under £20! Am just putting plants out during the day and bringing them back in at night. I wanted an evergreen azaela for the border I dug but couldn't see any yesterday so will get the £3.99 one I saw in h0meb@se.

Just need the sun to shine tomorrow now!

    Quick update from me.

Had a really productive day in the garden on Sunday. Planted some lobelia, geranium and stocks plants. Also bought the evergreen azaela I've wanted for a couple of weeks and it looks fab. I sat out there with a drink when I got in from work yesterday as dh had taken the children swimming and all was quiet!

Have had another y0ugov survey so up to £48.50 now. Almost there! It seems to take ages to get to payout but the surveys are bearable and I make sure I sent it to the mortgage!

42p Tilly tidy. Food spends have reduced too which is helping the budget see us through until payday :)

It's sunny again here today which definitely lifts my mood and motivation!

    Happy hump day :j

12p Tilly tidy, accounts looking okay and 10 days until payday. Dh returned a garden hose and accessories yesterday as they are not suitable. How hard is it to find exactly what you need? We want a hose already on a reel complete with all attachments that doesn't have terrible reviews. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Same problem in Spain, only worse as they split in the heat really quickly. I've just bought a Karcher one - same model not available in UK - but the stand is so lightweight I'm going to have to tie it to the balustrade .

Thanks gg, we got a hozelock one in the end, seems okay so far!

16p Tilly tidy today and have money sitting in various accounts that can be transferred and used effectively!

Still need to read and submit meter readings, check t3sco balance and transfer interest paid. Youg0v is up to £49 so I shall be stalking my account for surveys!

Enjoy your Friday everyone, shame the weather is set to change but enjoy anyway :j

Just seen you've bought one but the wall mounted ones are good and may solve your problem if you mount in a shady area, Gally?
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500
  • Mounting in a shady area?!

Have tried to ensure today was productive yet stress free with little expectation!

Did a first coat of paint on 3 more doors upstairs. We're changing from woodstain to a satin acrylic so the first coat is the worst so thought I'd get all those out of the way so 2nd,3rd and 4th coats can all be done together. Did some replanting with ds and he wanted to get involved so did quite a lot of the work. Between us dh and myself have moved the last of the topsoil/stone from the back garden. I took ds for a bike ride and play on the park when the sun finally came out!

Also updated house insurance to inform them building work has finished and our premium has gone up about £20 a year due to the additional bedroom. I had hoped not having a flat roof anymore would reduce it! Also rang student loans company as I'd had all my contributions for a tax year reversed and I don't know where the money is. They've sent it in to hmrc for them to investigate. I followed a link on mse last week and if I'd graduated slightly earlier my loan would have been wiped out after 20 years, as it is I will be repaying until I am 65!

Sat down to watch a film with ds (Charlie and the chocolate factory) and I fell asleep! I've started napping again at the weekends so think I need my iron levels checking again so will try and sort that out this week. Have eaten fairly healthily today which is an achievement in itself as it's harder at the weekend.

11p Tilly tidy this morning :)

    Had a productive day :)

Walked partway into town to exchange some shorts and pop to m*s. Had a free £5 voucher on my sp@rks so did a bit of food shopping and grabbed some reduced items. I do love their food but at full price a lot of it is out of our budget. Bought some pre-prepped mango and melon and some salad bits to help with the healthy eating.

Shred done this morning and it's becoming a habit and getting much easier. Scales are being unkind but I feel better in my clothes so I'll go with whatever makes me feel more confident!

Cut back a bush in the garden that just gets covered in thousands of tiny black flies. It wasn't the nicest job but the decking looks much better now :)

2 loads of washing line dried and I'm trying tomorrow out packing for holiday. We've got as far as getting the suitcases out!

Also hoovered and cleaned inside of my car, found my umbrella which was wedged right under the seat.

50p on y0ugov, 50p left to go until payout. Surely that survey can't be too far away!
