Thanks Alex, i may need to re-evaluate our budget :)

Awful nights sleep, woke frequently and awake from 4am with a dreadful headache. Came downstairs for painkillers and it eventually cleared. Not sure what triggered it as it's usually if I've skipped a meal.

Looking forward to coming home from work to an amazing shower room! Decorator also due but that will be mainly prep work and undercoats so not as exciting!

Lost track of food spends last month but will go back and do a rough total.

    April spends

    Food. £33.61
    Petrol £30
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!

Hi debt free, I'm ok thanks. Not really had time to get on here this week so intents to have a catch up. That headache lingered for another day but finally cleared. Still on antibiotics and xray results not back from 2 weeks ago. My other x-rays have been back in a week so I've tried not to worry. I rang x-ray who said it's waiting for the report to be validated by a consultant but that person wasn't in that week!!

We've had a look through our bathroom quote and have managed to get it down to £2500 by knocking a few charges off. We would remove the tiles rather than pay £120, we don't feel we need to pay £110 for them to remove rubbish. Having spotlights in the ceiling was costing about £500 and the downstairs bathroom only has 2 so it hardly seems worth it!

A local fb page with a shop on a local industrial estate announced they were saying closing. I managed to get a double bed, mattress and delivery for £140 so hopefully that be here next week. Room is decorated and looks beautiful and carpet fitter calling today to give us a quote.

    50p on yougov this week.

I think that quickly sums up my week!!

Thanks debt free, i just crossed everything out we didn't need with a pen. So did their labour charges are extortionate! £120 to plaster a tiny ceiling and it's not because a plasterer will be called out to do it, the bathroom fitter will!

Productive morning here a!Ready, no vino last night as last Friday I didn't sleep well after it so was tired all day. We still had some fizz in a wine glass but non alcoholic and actually had a nicer evening as neither of us fell asleep early! I have fizz sticks that are full of b vitamins so i just have it in a wine glass!

Washing machine on, children up and dh having a lay in before doing some major skip runs whilst i go to the hairdresser's with DD. Have a few things to return to n3xt, 2 unused rolls of wallpaper so that's £30 saved and also the beautiful towel rail we bought can't go where we wanted it to due to pipework. I found d an alternative in homeb@se that can go over the door that is £42 cheaper. Best get moving as i want to get there before hair appointment at 9am. I haven't even updated my April totals on signature yet, need to get this diary back on track to being mfw!

  • Have you checked with your local tip about rubbish disposal? Here even if you are a householder with only 3 bags, they charge £3 for a (small) rubble bag of broken tiles et.c.

That's really reasonable, will look into it. Dh has taken all the cardboard and polystyrene today and brushed the side of the house.

We've had a productive morning and it's not even midday! I've been to homeb@se, hairdresser's and next to return some items. Need to work out if today is running at a loss or profit as bought a replacement towel holder. I wanted one where you roll the towels up so have bought one that goes over the door. Also bought a toilet roll holder from next, just new towels to get now so may take advantage of the 20% off at dun3lm.

Quick break now for lunch then off to the zoo to make the most of the sunshine. Have a fabulous day everyone!

We had a great time thank you bookworm, took sandwiches, fruit and water so only spent just under £6 on 3 ice creams (I resisted) and we had discount as we are members. We ended up exploring a part of the zoo we rarely go to so it was a bit different and the children engaged with one of the animal talks they had. :)

Just been doing some quick sums this morning (whilst dh nurses a hangover! He bought wine for both of us and i didn't have any so of course he drank it all!) DD has football in a bit so am sure he will surface and i have taken him a vitamin enriched drink! I'd got a bit confused with pots of money as used some of bathroom pot to fund extension so i could keep that money earning interest. It all balances out though and £13.86 interest earned from t3sco this month. :j

I also need to arrange a cc balance transfer offer as one of the remaining two cards ends next month. I'm also debating switching the t3sco one as well as that's costing us about £35 a month interest as we are not reducing it enough. Will do some sums soon.

Have a good day everyone,it was beautiful yesterday and a similar day forecast today.

    Morning!

Am mindful of the cc coming to an end so have sent £75 to that card this morning. Then had a quote for our new carpet. Cheapest out of the 3 samples and still cost £350. That includes underlay and fitting though and we've had to get a 5m width due to size of the room or it would have had to be pieced. That does mean we can't stretch to having the snug done as would have needed another 4m carpet and there will be lots of waste. I will try and sell someone fb though once it's done. Dh has been told he is getting paid for the sick days he lost due to his work injury and payday is next week so fingers crossed it appears in his wages!

I've realised i am not cut out for manual labour. Spent yesterday and an hour his morning removing all the topsoil from the garden from digging out the soakaway. I know the builders will do it but I'm desperate to get the garden back to normal and get some grass seed down. Hopefully we have saved some labour costs too. Makes my blistered hand feel slightly better. I'll update them later as think the work involved is probably impacting on them completing. There's less work now and all they need to do is out some sleepers in so should be summer ready soon. Tiler due back to tile where the sink has been boxed in and then we are completely finished!

Spent money on paint yesterday to do the doors upstairs. Our decorator has used an acrylic white paint which looks fab. We are going to paint he doors due to labour costs involved as he said each door needs 4 coats each side. My problem is i never do that last finishing coat when decorating but now i have a benchmark and know what it needs!

I am really trying to make the most of my days off this week!
