Hi Mg, thanks for popping in. I've pretty much got back to normal if I'm honest, working normal hours as of this week (but still taking annual leave days here and there to use them up and avoid a full week in work!) My lung has started hurting again the last few days but trying not to worry about it and will see what my x-ray shows next week.
Have taken advantage of Mr bonus points weekend and accrued an extra 1900 bonus points. Last time they did the offer I got 7000 and we used the points for much of our christmas shopping! Petrol topped up and should last the next two weeks until payday and we have enough food to last us all week. We may just need cream and rice as am sure chicken curry will be on the menu. I've had a stirfry for dinner using up the veg in the bottom of the fridge, not the best stir fry by it created a meal and avoided any waste.
The washing seems never-ending this weekend (not helped by muddy trips to the park and a football match) so I'm really hoping use of the washing machine survives the building work this week! There is only one solid wall but the downstairs toilet also needs ripping out so am expecting some degree of chaos! Thankfully the builders have usually gone by the time I get in from work and do clean up after themselves.
I'm really starting to notice it's getting dark a bit later and Spring is definitely my favourite season. Roll on warm sunny days with that springtime freshness in the air.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Morning, been a busy week so. It been able to get on here for a catch up with diaries. We are just plodding really as payday 11 days away. Food spends stand at £54 so far which is good, hoping for a cheap month grocery wise!
It's been really slow progress with the build this week, all that's been done so far is the back door has been moved into the new extension! Hoping for some significant progress today and tomorrow!! An inspection was due yesterday which if all ok means it will be full steam ahead..I can hope! Another invoice has arrived for the build and we still seem to be on budget. Think there's about £6000 left for the internal work now which I would hope is enough!
Last day in work today before another long weekend. The weeks are just flying by at the moment and the weekends go so fast. We have amended DS swimming lessons this week to free up the weekend. He usually swims on a Saturday and DD has football matches alternate Sundays so we're not getting enough time for days out etc. It does mean only dh can take him now though as I'm not home from work early enough. Still trying to find the balance here!
Have a good day everyone, nearly the weekend!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
It's hard isn't it, we stopped Saturday swimming lessons for that very reason. Enjoy the long weekend!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Definitely debt free, although it's freezing I'm Hoping we can get out for a walk tomorrow. We are lucky to live in the part of the country with beautiful countryside not too far away.
Builders have made amazing progress today, it's just a shame they don't come everyday! The boss said they should be back Monday, I'd have thought they'd definitely be back! They've unplumbed the washing machine and it looks like it's staying that way! I may need to use a launderette for the first time ever! The space looks amazing though and dd's bedroom looks massive! I'm starting to wonder if there's room for an ensuite in there!
Have checked all accounts today to find an extra payment for the ever increasing t3sco card! Had t3sco interest x 2 so that was £15.08, £18.70 left in bills account with just piano lessons to pay for and potentially another £7 left from that as I'm sure we've been billed incorrectly. Randomly checked tcb and had £9.04 so that's all being sent as an extra payment! Dh has done a food shop and we have plenty of petrol so I'll work out a strict budget tomorrow to see us through until payday.
The rest of the evening will consist of me resisting wine as I seem to think the building work is a reason to celebrate!!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Morning, am just thinking how lovely it is to start the weekend with no commitments and no places to be
DH spent £24 on food shop yesterday so spends updated, t3sco payment sent and found an extra £35.01 to send too. This leaves us with £50 cash (I possibly have £10 in my purse) and only 9 days until payday.once we get to single figures it feels like its not too far away. We are still hoping to get out for a walk today but may need to motivate the children more than myself! It's tried to snow here but soon stopped so we don't have that stopping us. Although in recent years local friends have travelled to ground higher up to find the snow as we've only really had a dusting. DS who is 5 hasn't really seen a decent snowfall. Only necessary trip today make to a local launderette and I may consider advertising our washing machine for sale as its out of action and may just get damaged during the renovations. Also, I want everything streamlined and matching colours in the new utility and it doesn't meet my specification!
I resisted wine and was quite content with my replacement fizz. DH meanwhile had my share and fell asleep on the sofa!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
£13.50 at the launderette! we need a plan b!! On the flip side, all the washing is washed, dried and put away. This never happens by this point at the weekend!
We had a lovely walk this morning, DD as per usual was resistant. She is too strong willed and decided she won't enjoy something before she even gives it a chance. Sometimes she reminds me a lot of myself :rotfl: we must have really exerted ourselves (did walk a few miles) as I fell asleep on the sofa this afternoon! Absolutely no excuse, I've not had wine for 2 weeks and didn't get up until 7:30 this morning!
Dropped off an order at a friend's and another friend came to collect some clothing she will pass onto a charity for children from war torn countries.
It's amazing what you can achieve when you don't have a 30 minute swimming lesson to go toJune 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Ouch that's a lot for doing some washing  don't you have a friend or neighbour you could put upon instead? that's what I doMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Hi Cath
Been meaning to get over to your diary and have caught up from Christmas - will catch up with previous posts soon.
So sorry you have been poorly - my little niece and my 12 year old cousin both had pneumonia before Christmas and it's so grim. Take the time you need when your body tells you.
Great progress on a mse front.
I shall be reading with interest.
Take care.
