We have white tiles (just under A4 size) in DD's ensuite, the boys' bathroom and also in our BTL. All have a border of 2 or 3 glass mosaic tiles at around just under my chest height (I'm short though!) - DD has purple and gold, the boys beautiful blue/ green glass and the BTL fabulous rainbow glass mosaic tiles - like an oil spill in water - meaning the painted wall can be virtually any colour and it picks it up from the border. Love them. Expensive to buy by the sheet, but you only need 2 or 3 sheets and you're done, so total cost is reasonable. xI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200

It's a border i was thinking of or a vertical stripes. Now we're not restricted by the white tiles I have no idea what to get!
It's chaos here today but productive chaos! The builders are knocking through to the extension upstairs and doing a lot of banging around in the utility. Electrician also here so it's pretty noisy and draughty. I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet when they finish for the day. When the whole team are here they achieve so much. Plumber coming tomorrow and will get another update from the builders before they finish. Hopefully plumber can tell us tomorrow when he hopes to fit the shower room.
Money shuffle continues as I've been leaving the m*s money in overnight before transferring it back. Not sure if this is necessary but it definitely prolongs the money shuffle! 73p Tilly tidy.
Dh's car is back from the garage and needs so e parts for the clutch. I was surprised as it's only 2 years old but at least it's under warranty.
£4.96 on food yesterday and £31ish today which need adding to food spends total.
Off to make a hot chocolate for DD (wish I could have one!) and play a game of chess. I walked in on her teaching DS how to play this morning which was lovely to see.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Morning. It's a dreary day here today with Storm Doris still expected to hit tomorrow! The children have a friend coming around to play. There was an offer of soft play and lunch but invited them here instead!
Food spends updated and we've only spent £166 so far this month. Mr M have given us various bonus till spit coupons and Mr S have emailed a £10 off £60 spend which will be worth using.
Shuffled some more of the wages and although things seem tight this month I've found an extra £50 to pay off the cc from surplus in the bills account and also the surplus from dh's wages I wasn't expecting.
Am expecting the electrician back today and also the plumber to be here. Need to ask him about moving the outside tap which is now inside! Would also like an estimated fitting date for the shower room suite.
Hoping to get a chance to catch up on some diaries today. Half term chaos has resulted in a week thst is flying and little time to think!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

Hi cath, I've got the same tiles a small greent I think, we have oil spill type irredescent charcoal and black border (from b and q ) quite expensive but we cut it down so we just used 2 tiny rows through our huge white tiles, made it look high end but little cost.
We bought the VERY cheapest suite online from a company I had not heard of for the loftroom bathroom and I have regretted it, the toilet seat was rubbish and the bath mixer and the shower cubicle shower need replacing now, can't remember he name of the company but go for one that's been recommended! It was buy cheap or wait of for a while at the time( also bought a second bath elsewhere as the bath arrived broken and they wouldn't replace as I'd signed the delivery note saying I had NOT checked it as it was wrapped in a way that took forever to undo!)
Our main bathroom was cheap but b and q and no problems there.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Thanks MFD, I just can't wait for it to be finished now. We will end up with a more lovely home than i ever thought possible. All achieved with some hard work and determination
I think we'll probably splash out newgirly as i don't want to regret compromising on certain aspects to save a few hundred £'s. We've costed shower room suite, shower, taps and radiator to be £1200 before trade discount. Builder said he'd costed it at £300! I think we must have gone more high end with our choices.
Had a really good day yesterday. Was expecting some backpay from my training year and i was secretly hoping for £2500. I got just over £4200!!! Now what to do with it!!!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Morning.
Had some good building work progress this week. Electrician and plumber have been a couple of times to do their bits. We are having downlights in the utility and shower room. Plumber has got everything ready for new radiators and also moved the outside tap. Electrician has also wired up for some outside lights. Joiners expected today to do the floor, insulation going in Monday or Tuesday and then we are expecting about 5 days of plastering work. Once it's plastered I can't see things taking much longer!
Debating what to do today, we may go for a walk to a local castle but need to hang around to let the joiners in. They're obviously not aiming for an early finish today as no one here yet!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Just popping in whilst I get chance. Joiners arrived and were done by lunch time. We now have a floor and can get in the room. I've been in there with a tape measure planning where things could go. We went out to try and decide on some tiles. Have chosen a neutral wall amd floor tile with a mosaic border on the walls. Am just so aware I want to get it right which makes decision making harder. Also managed to get the rotary line back in the ground so fears crossed for dry weather so can get all my washing dry. My mum has kindly washed it but there's still loads to dry. We still need to price up washing machine, dryer and fridge freezer as expecting the quote for the utility room early next week. As the build comes to an end there seems to be so much to do. Am wondering whether to provisionally bookie the decorator as the plastering should be done and dried within the next couple of weeks.
DH kicked off the spending for our windfall. We have renewed our zoo membership and he took the children and one of their friends yesterday. They had a fab time so was a good decision.
Relaxing rest of the day planned, managed to get the house a bit more organised so it'll be bath, book and evening on the sofa resisting wine and treats for me!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
