20p Tilly tidy yesterday, found £4 spare in account today so paid off one off cc's. Am using a very motivating snowball calculator which is helping to direct spare money.

Having a very quiet new year at home, will be fast asleep before midnight in keeping with the last few years.

Happy new year to you all.

    Thanks both :D

    Wowsers, it's 2015, let's make it a good one.

DH doing yet more overtime. DS has not been well and we were all asleep before 9pm which is a record even for us!

Have tried to start the year making some money. Done a free TCB offer and requested £1.26 that's payable. Will do a massive tilly tidy with that when it arrives! Also have £80 that I had chased up which is now confirmed and hopefully payable by end of Feb. That will definitely help us meet monthly target for WIOTW challenge,

Still need to sort out the children's clothes but it's a job I really can't be bothered doing! DD is so fussy and wear the same few bits. Is 6 too young for a capsule wardrobe?

    Today's plan
    • More decluttering
    • Take tree down and hopefully find somewhere to store it other than a corner of the playroom
    • Do a food inventory of sorts and a 2 week meal plan.
    • See if melon that's been on the kitchen side for too long is still edible
    • Have a relaxing family afternoon

Thanks ND, he is on the mend thank you.

Al, it needs THE biggest sort out, looks like she has loads of stuff but wears hardly any of it! What a waste of space. She is growing like a weed too.

Ok, so have meal planned, not strictly but made a list of meals that can be made from food we have and how many it will feed. tbh, I am quite happy with egg or beans on toast a few nights a week as don't get home in time to eat as a family anyway.

Also found £4.54 in DH TCB account so that's been requested too. Goodness knows how long that has been sitting there! Today was also our first NSD for a while, definitely need to have more of those.

January will be spent playing catch up so need to be as frugal as possible with some mini challenges along the way. Since our meal planning doesn't require us to buy much am going to aim for £20 this week. I did attempt to pull up a leek in the garden earlier I planted ages ago, i only got roots! Won't be making soup this week then! Not sure what went wrong there, am sticking to rocket and lettuce!

    Happy New Year!

Capsule wardrobes for little ones once they start school are just the ticket! After school uniform (and any sports/ swimming/ dance/ brownies/ beavers stuff) they need something messy, something which could be acceptable at a smart event and about 5 other mix n match outfits max - preferably with layers :) Nad pants, socks/ tights and vests - and PJs (I go for min 3 pairs - 1 to wear, 1 in the wash and 1 spare) Frees up wardrobe space, you buy less and it all gets worn :) When they are older they'll want more (trust me on this!) In the meantime, take advantage and be ruthless. Even more so if she's going through a growth spurt!
