Thank you. I hope it does too! Much easier to entertain the children outside!
Had a salesman round and we have decided to have a couple of new windows and doors. It will improve our access into the garden and solve some of the condensation issues upstairs. Just need to find the money now! :rotfl::rotfl:
It feels like we are doing a lot in a short space of time but financially it's do-able if well managed. I have reduced our OP's to £7 a month for the time being! I'm all for knocking months off the mortgage but that's not of much benefit if there's money to be found right now. If I can find £186 to get us under 100k next month though I will be delighted! If not it will be delayed to October.
Have worked my wages out on my salary when I go back to university and it's looking promising. There's a lot to be said for not living to your means, never mind living above them!
Have saved more than half of the money for the drive and that's being done after next month payday. I can't wait until the work is done, house will be fab!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

Thanks Lois, was chatting with DH last night and realised that since just before last Christmas we have:
- knocked out a wall and had new kitchen-diner
- replaced the boiler
- had new flat roof on garage and new guttering.
- some roof work and repointing
- fitted bedroom furniture in box room and decoration
- redecorated our bedroom and had new furniture
- decorated lounge
- new drive
- new d/stairs cloakroom and some alteration of utility room to create new back door plus replacement of some windows
Anyway, who knows where my new career path may take me so we could just keep our options open.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Good luck with all the work Cath, and the new career! Fingers crossed you can just sneak under 100k, that would be a lovely milestone to achieve before all the madness kicks off!

Hi Cath, Wow you have achieved loads in your house over the past year . I wish my DH would get on with things here. We've been in our house for 15 years and I'm still waiting for major jobs and decorating to be done. Its such a juggling act though, with what any extra pennies should go towards, OP's, Home improvements, or a Holiday etc.
Good luck with you OP's and hope your new drive looks bootifull.MFW 142- Oct 1999 £55,0000, Jul 2013 £27,593.17 Oct 2013 £26,531, Dec 2014 £22,600, Dec 2015 £20,190, Jan 2016 £19,944.19 Mar 2017 £16,944.76 Decluttered 207/2018

Just to add, DH hasn't done any of the work. DIY is not his thing so we have had to have the professionals in. We had our lounge done by the decorator and I've not painted since. He's been back to our house a lot!
Why is it when you have a plan for a frugal month you get unexpected expenses????
My car is in the garage this week and DH's car had a major fault last week and his steering locked whilst driving. That is now fixed and apart from him being shaken up at the time he is fine. That has cost £130 to fix and I had to write a cheque for the deposit for the windows which was another £250. My conversation with DH asking if we could manage on £350 for the month was pointless as it's all been spent! So damage limitation it is until payday.
Plan for today is- Choose new carpet for boxroom when man comes to measure up.
- Window surveyor coming today
- Sort out DD's wardrobe (I have actually pulled everything out of it so it HAS to be done now!!)
- Take children to join the library
- Ring payroll
- Ring university
- Get in touch with lady about a course I have done.
- Do some housework and decluttering!
