The first few times I phoned them to cheque I was given vague /miss information by staff who obviously had not fully understood the T&C's.
Have a look on the Amex web page under travel and pull up the T&C's for the Travel cheque card.Print it or leave it on the screen when you call next and refer to it.
As you can see there are two main points 1/cancel card before 14 days .2/cancel card after 14days.
so ask to be put through to another nicer person.
It can be done it sounds like you have been put throught to all the duffers,
better luck next try.0 -
Still trying to get this to work...
Called them just now and kept being told that had to be returned via same route. They do not seem to understand that it does not say that in the T&Cs.
Have been given the name of a supervisor but she was "on another call" and I wasn't allowed to hold as the guy said he had to answer other calls.
Again I was on hold waiting for cancellations for a good 20 mins, CS said that cancellations dept were really busy so I expect there are many people doing this.
I will try again later this evening as cancellations are based in the US so are open for another few hours yet.0 -
American Express Cash Back seems like a good idea but who accepts the card?
So far only Supermarkets!
Most retailers refuse them.0 -

Stick with it ,Checked online banking and the funds have arrived in my account.I have just phoned American Express and returned the £3000 to my Platinium card the funds disappeared from my bank account immediately.
Well it amazed me..
As for limited places to use the platinium card we have not had a problem,we memorised the list of shops and only shopped there. This month we have managed to spend and buy things as normal.
Let us know how you get on with your refund.0 -

Marks & spencer, W.H. Smith, BHS, Virgin, B & Q, and many online sites including CD Wow.
I have also used my card at my local hairdresser and bookshop.
Today I found out that Boots now accepts Amex.
So now its only John Lewis that doesn't.;)Born to shop;)0 -

I've been using Amex for over 5 years and find that approx 95% of major retailers now accept it. The only places that don't are small private businesses.

i have just received my rebate but i don't think i want to use the card anymore. what i want to know is if i cancel will i get a cheque or something for my rebate because my account is in credit?
also if i cancel having not used it since my rebate will i be charged the £15 annual charge?0 -
I'm thinking about getting an Amex blue card and have just read the terms and conditions, and came acrosss this:-
OTHER FINANCIAL INFORMATION
5. TOTAL CHARGE FOR CREDIT AND INTEREST CHARGES
5.1 The total charge for credit is £90.
What does this refer to ?0 -
It's an example - I think it's if you borrow £1000 then repay at £100 per month, that's how much it will cost you. There's been a lot of people ask this question, think the CC companies could do with explaining it better.0

So it's not a charge for them letting you have credit.Would you recommend this credit card ?0
