  • The worst is when married men come on to you and then act like you should be grateful because you're single in your 30s  **** off! I'm perfectly capable of pulling someone a lot younger, cuter and less married than you, you loser! :rotfl:

Showmethemoney - if my relationship doesn't work out (re my thread), then I will be more than happy to come out on the pull with you!

Oh, and re internet dating - why do people lie about stuff that's obviously going to come out? Like they guy I met who said he was 6ft tall, but was only 5ft7 on the date? What on earth had happened to him to make him shrink by 5 inches in a few weeks? :rotfl:

Lol thats pretty good, I think when it comes up on sites like that and it says height in cm, That gets confusing, I remember before I just chucked anything on there and then once its done it shows in ft and in. Come up as my being 4ft 7in :rotfl:

I am closer to 6ft then 4ft. Just imagine having all the small women thinking they struck gold with someone there own height to be suprised when I show up. :rotfl:

Where abouts in London are you anyways, I know a few people that work down oxford street so I am regulaly about. :o
  • Forgot to say......

The most interest I have had from men was when I was involved in a charity event - you know, the type where you go and trek or climb a mountain for sponsorship. Firstly I got really fit, which obviously helps attract attention. Secondly, there are often some very cute and fit boys on the trip (I'm saying no more :o ) - and there is usually a higher ratio of men to women - on mine there were 24 men and 11 women. And finally, as well as helping the charity, you've accomplished something which people find interesting, which gives you plenty to talk about when you're out socialising.

Mariella Frostrup actually met her husband on one of these trips!

All the major charities do them, so go and have a go - it's hard work, but something I am thrilled to have taken part in.

I too would be interested in a dating forum on here. Not everyone appreciates the pleasure from saving money and it would be a great starting point for shared interest.

I also appreciate the comments about life down South. I moved back up North, partly because I never went out with a southern girl in the whole of the 15 years I lived down there. The only girls I went out with were through work and they were either foreign or originating from North of the Watford Gap. I only got people talking to me/being friendly in bars when I came 'home' at weekends so thought I would move back for good.
  • Maybe I need to lie on my dating profiles. I'm totally honest and genuine on mine, and never get any responses.

Maybe I'm just ugly, or more boring than I thought, oh well, only signed up to meet some new people. Their loss.

I once signed up to a site, and forgot to change my date of birth. It gave me the default 1950. Which made me out to be 66. I got quite a few emails from that, but mainly from the older ladies and people that couldn't believe I was that age. (I'm 30 by the way).
  • I know there's always a lot of negativity about London, but I actually think it's a good place to be single. Why? - well for starters, there's a lot more singletons out there than in your average town purely because of it's size. There's a vast array of activities, sports, hobbies, clubs etc that you just wouldn't find in other towns so there really is something for everyone - check out Time Out for starters.

I also think it's more acceptable to be single in London - particularly when over 30. When I go back up north the first thing anyone seems to ask me is "are you married/do you have children", as if it's the only thing worth talking about. If you say no, people sometimes look as if there's something wrong with you - especially if you're from a small village like me and everyone is married with kids by about 26. In London I find that people ask about other things as well. And maybe I'm unique, but I've never found Londoners unfriendly - I find them a lot more open minded and accepting than people in my home village!

Hiya, have you tried putting an ad on gumtree? It's free.
I did and got a few replies, but one stood out and he's now my boyfriend.
I'd been single for 2 and a half years and a single mum so it's even harder to find someone!
    good luck xx

I too would be interested in a little MSE dating forum, see laughing cows last post for my situation, I have tried other interent dating and quite frankly I would have been better saving the £65.

Laughing Cow, every night I think whilst sitting on my sofa with the cat that tomorrow I will get fit, alas tomorrow has happened yet.

I live about an hour on the train to London ( a very slow train but not far up the A1M) but feel a little old and fat to go out on the pull, and everything else costs a fortune - maybe we should put our heads together and come up with something else to help with meeting that someone special or Martin should start a dating forum for us.

Astonsmummy - every time I have looked on gumtree the ads have mainly been for people wanting to meet other people for wild weekends of sex with no strings attached - maybe I am looking in the wrong place!
