There are quite a few different encryption systems used on viewing cards so first you need to check what encryption the channels you wish to view are using then either look for a receiver with a card reader for that system or a receiver with CI (Common Interface) slot which accepts CAMs (Conditional Access Modules with inbuilt card readers). CAMs and card readers come in virtually every type of encryption system - your provider should be able to tell you the encryption type they use.0 -
I've had no problems with Sky in the past... I'd stick with them tbh. It may cost a bit more, but like with most things - you get what u pay for!0

80 will/should be fine but a meters not going to add much cost if its not going to be seen, be aware alignment without a meter that names the satellite is going to be a pain at best, the cost of getting someone in shouldn't be too high to supply and fit.
Not sure you need a cam for RTS but they are available pretty much anywhere, I like Manhattan stb's and have had no issues with them.

They can require planning permission - depends on where they are installed on the property. E.g. if a dish exceeds the height of the ridge and the house has no chimney, it will require permission. Likewise, if the house has a chimney and the dish exceeds its height (regardless of the dish size), it will need planning permission.... get an 80cm dish if you are in the south of the UK or 100cm if you are further north than Edinburgh/Glasgow. neither of these sizes will require planning permission.0 -
