Yeah, you ring the nearest CAB and you have to go in for an appointment. It's a pain in the bum, but look at it this way- it's a pain in the bum that is worth hundreds of quid.

You can find the nearest one here... http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/index/getadvice.htm There ought to be one near you Hon, because I've just looked up the full list for Cornwall and they have got a pretty good geographical spread from Penzance to Torpoint and even on St Marys.

Appointments aren't usually very quick and I find sometimes the advisors don't know about the South West Water trust fund for people in arrears thing, but insist you want them to find out about it for you please and refer you so you can get onto it. If they have any trouble working out what you're talking about tell them CAB Truro knows, can they please ask CAB Truro for help. (SWW do a very good job of keeping it secret, even some of the CAB workers don't know about it).
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

This may have been true in the past but actually SWW now have a dedicated team who go around all the CAB and similar organisations giving presentations on the trust fund. I attended one recently and it was very good, having dealt with the trust team in work I can vouch for the fact that they are one of the most helpful teams we deal with and it is definately worth speaking to them/ applying to the trust if you are having trouble paying.

Water bills are what annoy me most. I used to pay £120 a year for a 2 bed house in the north west, have now moved to Scotland and is almost £400 pounds for a 1 bedroom flat, which has to be paid with the council tax so gets sent to court sheriff if you're late with payments.
