Mobiles.co.uk - does this site work at all???
I ordered from Mobiles.co.uk a htc desire clearance on 29.08. I also sent all additionally requested ID proofs (UK driving license, 2 debit card details etc). I haven't heard anything from Mobiles.co.uk re my order, yesterday I received this email: "Your proofs have been received and will be given to the network, we will email you once this has been done. " What does it mean? How long does it take to purchase a mobile phone??? I haven't experienced anything like that before - right now I've got 2 contracts and my handsets arrived the next day! What is more now this handset is out of stock according to Mobiles.co.uk!!! And I still don't have any confirmation. The phone number 01923803333 doesn't work and I have no idea what's happening and how to get my phone.

Sounds quite usual for this wonderful dealer. The answers to your actual questions vary according to what mood they are in - though I've never been asked to supply any of the proofs they requested from you. If you can get through on the phone or obtain an answer to an email you've done well. Otherwise their attitude (among others) is "suck it and see". If you have ordered a cashback deal it should indicate to you what you may expect when you come to make a claim. Had you done the smallest of research on here none of this would be news to you and no order would be required to find any of it out (apart from the additional proofs!).0

Don't understand why it's not working ...people usualy spend hours on end listning to piped music on there ....perhaps the cassette's broken or maybe the needle needs changing on the record player ???The phone number 01923803333 doesn't work and I have no idea what's happening and how to get my phone. It's not just about the money0 -
If ordered on a Sunday 29th Aug, and a bank holiday following day 30th August, what more can you expect then a couple of delays for checking credit (especially if its the network doing the check and not the retailer).0

Had nothing like that ordering recently from them, was all done on-line, guess they need to check your details.0

Must be a trick question. Anyone following the innumerable threads on this dealer over more than a year would know the answer immediately - from them and you, more of the same!0 -

Maybe they are waiting for some faulty ones to be returned for re-issue - after extensive repair of course!
Do you not get the idea that perhaps someone up there is giving you a second chance and time to cancel???0 -
It's funny. While I was away I was able to read the threads. It's good to know that someone else was posting along similar lines to what I would have said (and have been saying for over a year) had I been able to log on - especially when they used to attack me for saying the same things. Has the light finally dawned?0

I try to take an objective view of things and didn't have the history with CPW companies that you had. I felt that you and others were a bit too personal with Ben and that he appeared to be trying to help. Now, whether or not he was just flannelling or whether his promises were not being carried out by the right people I will never know, but that is water under the bridge.
What we have now is a spate of refused cashbacks and other evidence of a company with problems. Under these circumstances, it would be unwise for inexperienced people to enter into cashback contracts with such a company if there are alternatives around.
Which is better - a £50 cashback deal that is paid or a £100 cashback that isn't? The answer depends upon the resolve of the customer to resort to law if the company defaults.
So, I have changed my stance based upon the content of recent posts. I still think that exchanges with Ben in the past went a bit too far and it is good to see a mobiles.co.uk rep on the site.
I agree with Silk and you when you take a harder line when MSE members seem to think that when the mobiles.co.uk's rep gets a result that makes the company wonderful. If things had gone properly and honestly, then there would have been no need to come to this forum in the first place.
But glad that you were in harmony with some of my recent posts - as I have been with yours

Finally. Having called for me to be thrown off this site previously you now see enough evidence of all the things I have been warning people about for over a year. My hope is that those who gave succour to this dealer for such a long time didn't encourage those who wanted to believe in things too good to be true to actually jump into bed with them.
Your word "inexperienced" is quite accurate. This is a dealer to be used by the (extremely) experienced; that is why I continue to use them yet warn most against. The only things which have changed in the time I have been posting about them is that their payments have got quicker (but still lag most other dealers), they now employ a new tactic in rejecting claims (BUT they always did reject them despite what was claimed on here) and they now have a rep who is not here just to make false promises, inaccurate claims and downright untrue statements. Apart from that, they are the same as they have always been.0 -
Having suffered from having my brand spanking new HTC Desire stolen (bought SIM free) I looked around for the best deal and against the advice on this forum went for a contract clearance deal with Mobiles.co.uk.
Having successfully obtained cashback under a more stringent CPW deal I was going to keep my fingers crossed that I would be successful, although not so naive as to think that it will would be easy.
The phone came through quickly, however, the contract is not quite what is advertised on the site:
<http://!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/t-mobile-htc-desire.html> describes: 600 Mins Any Network Anytime + 500 Texts + Unlimited web browsing
The 'unlimited' web browsing I had taken to be part of the base package, and being an Android phone on T-mobile a 3GB fair usage limit.
However, when I called t-mobile to ask about the 'booster' that I thought was included in the deal I was informed that the internet was provided through the booster and as such was a 1GB limit. Without the booster set to internet I would have no free internet as part of my base contract.
I have searched their site to find a better description of the unlimited internet on this deal and to a fair usage policy, however, I have not found anything that details this, or that the internet is provided through the booster rather than the base T-Mobile contract.
I feel as though I have been 'mis-sold' the deal by the website as it does not seem to quote either a fair usage policy or the internet being provided by the 'free' booster.
Is anyone aware of where, if at all, this lives on their website? Have checked the T&Cs to no avail.
Having got off to such a great start I am already regretting mobiles.co.uk, have warned my girlfriend against using them for her new iPhone 4 and I am a lot less hopeful about them paying up for the cashback deal.
I feel like my phone was stolen and now my part of my mobile contract has been stolen too.0
