I have still not used up my one lunch i'm allowed this month. Friday we had an open day so there was free food, yesterday I was off cos it was my Bday and today I brought in pasta.

What a great thread! This will come in useful for me as I know I spend a lot of money on food and drink for work.
I work at an airport which makes things even harder for me. With the security restrictions I can't bring in liquids or food that is mainly liquid through.
There are plenty of places to eat but they're not very healthy and even with discounts very expensive!!
I get paid on Friday and I'll be working 13 days until the next payday. I work long 12 hour days and irregular hours as well which doesn't help. I struggle to keep myself fed during a 12 hour day, always feeling hungry and then buying junk from here to keep me going.
I'm going to try and do 10 days without paying for lunches here, guess I need to get some planning done.0 -
Macca - that's so annoying - I hope they provide free drinking water for you!
Well done on doing the GNR Miss! Hope you are recovered now!
I've got pesto pasta with slow roasted cherry toms today, had the same on Monday and had a Quiche a la Grandma yesterday. Work lunch on Friday so just tomorrow and I'll get 5/5 for the week!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I still haven't used either of my 2 bought lunches this month, since that would mean sheer luxury for me right now haha! Had toast, cheese & beans yesterday it was delicious! Toasted waffles for the first time on Monday, it worked a treat! Today I have a frozen tub of leek & potato soup defrosting away for lunchtime.Proud to be dealing with my debts"Everyone who got to where they are had to begin where they were." Richard Paul Evans0

They do in most branches but not in all of them and there's only so much free ice cold drinking water you can drink in 12 hours before you are looking to have something else. Only other alternatives are tea/coffee or the vastly overpriced bottles of coke/water etc.
Anybody with some suggestions on what I can do or have to vary my drinks and not pay huge sums of money in the process would be greatly welcomed.
I checked how much I've spent this month and it came to just over £80! That's far too much to spend and the month isn't over yet!0 -

Can you take a very small bottle of undiluted squash to add to the water they provide? In fact can you buy powdered squash in sachets? Are there facilities to make your own hot drinks? If so as well as tea/coffee you could take those hot chocolate options/highlights sachets and cup a soups.0 -

Very good ideas, thanks. I can take upto 100ml of liquid through with which should make a couple of drinks. Might look to buy a load of hot choc sachets as cheap as I can get them. They'll be nice with winter coming up!0 -
Macca, that must be so annoying what a shame the minority spoil things for the majority (extremists with their plots and mr & mrs average who just want to take a drink with them).
I agree with all the other postersSachets of cuppasoup, options hot choc, and a small amount of undiluted squash topped up every day might keep you going. There are even these sachets called "mugshots" that are like cuppasoup but with noodles or pasta in and when you put the boiling water on it absorbs it all and you're left with a little mug of pasta/noodles. What about a box of fruit teabags or some nesquick to mix yourself up a milkshake (if they provide tea & coffee you could just snaffle some of the milk and add your milkshake mix to it). There was also a company that made tubes of yogurt rather than the usual pots - think the idea is for kiddies who always forget to put a spoon in their packed lunch. I think they're called FRUBES and are just fromage frais i'm sure its less than 50ml in a tube. That might be something that they'll let you take through. What about cous cous? Thats dry until you add the hot water and ainsley harriot does some sachets of quite nice flavours, Its always on special everytime I go into sainsbury's for some reason.
Today i've got a potato and some mini babybels (cheesy jacket potato) and a tupperwear tub of watermelon (the remains of the moster one thats taking over the fridge at home).0 -
