Today is a 'free' lunch bought with Tesco Clubcard vouchers (sushi I think).. 4 out of 5.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Zero lunches bought so far - bang on target. Although i'm loaded with cold so all I want to eat is soup anyway, so that's easy enough to bring in from home. Sore throat means the multi-pack of yogurts are also going down well too!! I'm also using up a pack of freebie green tea bags I got with my charity goodie bag when I did the race for life!
Urgh I'm such a wuss I hate being ill. Really want to just sit and stuff myself with a massive packet of biscuits. Might see if my dad's got any of his infamous lava curry in the freezer - that'll clear my cold (and its free if I blag it from someone else):D
Keep up the good work guys *sniff*0 -

Ooooh yay is this alright to heat up? I love risotto but I've always been scared to reheat with so many horror stories :eek:missworks2jobs wrote: »Zero lunches bought so far - bang on target. Hope you feel better soon! Your dad's lava curry sounds interesting, do you have the recipe? :AProud to be dealing with my debts"Everyone who got to where they are had to begin where they were." Richard Paul Evans0 -
I'd always thought you can't reheat rice too?
More couscous and veg for me yesterday and today it's wholemeal pasta with tuna, sweetcorn and some very light mayo, and enough for tomorrow tooWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Ha ha, lava curry is just my dad's home-made stuff. Its different every time, he neaver measures or follows a recipe. He basically uses the leftover gravy from sunday lunch, adds onions and any bits of leftover veggies & meat from the roast then chucks in loads of tomato pure or tins of tomatoes chilli & curry powder and basically a spoonful of whatever spices he's got. Then he lets it stand for a day so all the spices really infuse, sometimes he freezes it in tupperwear and when its thawed and cooked its really hot cos all the spices have had chance to kindof melt. Its always hot as hell but really really tasty. My mam can never eat a bowlful without needing a tissue for her nose!0

I used to work in a chinese takeaway (and have done a food hygiene course). You can reheat rice but ONLY REHEAT IT ONCE, or you have to keep it constantly hot in a bain marie or slow cooker.
All food should be served piping hot or chilled to less than 3 or could be 5 degrees (dont quote me on the temp as i've forgotten it was so long ago). If you've just cooked the rice and are going to re-use it you have to cool it quickly down to the 3/5degrees (why people rinse it with cold water). Its the tiny micro-organisms between the grains that make people ill apparently so rinsing the rice with boiling water if you're going to eat it straight away or with cold water to cool it helps with this. Also helps take the starch out so it doesn't stick.
That's my smartie pants moment over for the day:T0 -
Today I had bolognaise and a pitta bread.
I often take in leftover risotto for lunch. it's not the best thing in the world reheated and risotto purists wouldn't do it but I like it still! I've never keeled over or had a bad tummy from it. Always make it dead hot though!Since starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. July: Aberystwyth trip, hotmilk nightie. Ah thanks, that's really helpful! Hmmm, what ricey meals could I conjure up...?Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Quiche and salad - I have this a lot because Quiche is so often in the bargain bin. I buy the medium sized ones and chop them in half and freeze. Ususally they are down to about 35-60p and so my lunches are dead cheap and nice!Since starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. Fabulous idea, I'm gonna start doing that!
Still no bought lunches this month - my wages have disappeared this month, so I doubt I'll be in the position to treat myself anyways!
"healthy choice" spicy beef pasta brought in from the freezer for lunch today, followed by a Dairy Milk, naturally...Proud to be dealing with my debts"Everyone who got to where they are had to begin where they were." Richard Paul Evans0
